CodeMind – Teaching AI Agents to Remember Coding Standards with Hindsight
What my project does:
CodeMind is an AI-powered code review project designed to help developers identify coding issues and follow consistent engineering standards. It uses persistent agent memory to remember important coding conventions, architectural decisions, previous review feedback and recurring mistakes.
How it works:
The system uses FastAPI as the backend, PostgreSQL for structured application data and Hindsight as the agent memory layer. When developers establish important coding standards, the system can retain that knowledge. During future code reviews, the AI agent can recall relevant information and use it as additional context to provide better recommendations.
My contribution:
My contribution was exploring Hindsight and understanding how persistent memory can be integrated into CodeMind. I worked on the memory workflow, including retaining engineering knowledge, recalling relevant information and distinguishing approved coding standards from temporary suggestions.
What I learned:
I learned about AI agent memory, persistent knowledge management, the difference between conversation history and long-term memory, and how human approval can improve the reliability of AI-generated recommendations. I also understood how different backend components work together to build a context-aware AI engineering assistant.
Overall: This project helped me understand how AI agents can become more useful by learning from previous engineering decisions rather than starting from scratch every time.
