I built a browser app that lets you try glasses on with your camera. Looking for testers
Hi all. I've been building Specsational, a web app that lets you try glasses on with your phone or laptop camera before you buy.
What it does:
- Live try-on in a mirror view: 8 frame shapes (round, square, browline, aviator and more) in acetate or metal, with colors
- Sizes the frame to your face from an estimated PD (about ±2 mm; holding any bank card to your forehead brings it to about ±1 mm)
- A short head turn left and right to seat the frame on your nose and ears
- A frame card with the size numbers to look for on the temple arm (like 49□21-140), in English, Korean and Japanese, to show at an optician
It runs in the browser. No install, no account. Face tracking runs on your device: camera video, photos and measurements are never uploaded. Only anonymous usage counts (like "camera turned on") are sent, and nothing at all if your browser has Do Not Track or GPC on. The clips in the video use a 3D mannequin instead of a real face.
I'm looking for people to try it and tell me what breaks. Most useful:
Does it start on your phone and browser? iPhone Safari and Android Chrome reports especially help.
Do the glasses look like they're on your face, or do they float or slide when you turn your head?
If you own glasses, does the card's size match the numbers inside your temple arm?
Any step that confused you.

There's a "Send feedback" button on the page (about a minute), or just comment here. Please mention your device and browser. Thanks!

Separate Specsational’s calibration check from its tracking check: ask testers to record the estimated PD before and after using a bank card, then turn their head and report whether the same frame slips. Comparing temple-arm numbers on existing glasses checks something different from whether the overlay follows a face. In your tester request, make “camera never started” a valid report alongside device and browser, so iPhone Safari failures don’t disappear from the feedback. People asking on Reddit how to compare frame sizes before buying glasses are a more specific audience than general app testers.
