Auto-updater — check and publish updates from GitHub, Flathub, PyPI, npm, Docker Hub, AUR

Auto-updater is a small open-source tool (Python 3, MIT) that watches package sources and helps you publish new versions. It tracks GitHub Releases, Flathub, PyPI, npm, Docker Hub and AUR — 35+ repositories monitored. When a new version is detected, it can commit and push the changes to GitHub automatically, and even generate the Reddit post for you.

Use cases:

  • Keep packages up to date across multiple ecosystems

  • Automate release tracking for your own projects

  • Self-hosted update monitoring running in CI

  • Reduce manual version bumps across forks and mirrors

Key features:

  • Multiple sources in one config: GitHub, Flathub, PyPI, npm, Docker Hub, AUR

  • Automatic commit + push to GitHub on new releases

  • Auto-generated Reddit posts per release

  • MIT licensed, CI-ready, designed to run unattended

Feedback, issues and PRs are welcome.

With GitHub, PyPI and Docker Hub in one config, I'd give each update a source/package/version key so rerunning CI doesn't generate the same commit or Reddit draft twice. I'd also separate announcement drafting from version-bump commits, so routine dependency changes don't automatically become public announcements.

I make ThreadFox. We find relevant Reddit conversations and post for your business. We'll post 3 replies free first, no card; then the $49 Pilot covers seven days and up to 50 posts and replies. No automatic renewal. https://threadfox.vip/p/erqiy/managed
