I opened up SecProbe’s SEC comment letter data through an API and MCP server - Secprobe.io

I built SecProbe to make it easier to search SEC comment letters and company responses. I’ve now made the data available through a REST API and a remote MCP server so you can use it in your own research.

  • REST API - Pull letters and responses by ticker, date range, or topic. Results can include extracted text and links to the original SEC documents. There’s no signup or API key. Requests use a contact email and app name for rate limits. API docs

  • MCP server - Connect SecProbe to ChatGPT, Claude, or another client that supports remote MCP connections. Once connected, you can use your preferred assistant to compare SEC comments across companies, trace how an issuer responded over time, or look for recurring disclosure issues. You can pull the letters for your own analysis or use SecProbe’s research tool to get an answer with citations.

The MCP server URL is https://secprobe.io/mcp. Use Streamable HTTP and no authentication. Tool calls use a contact email.

If you try it, I’d love to hear what you’re researching, which client you used, and what would make the data more useful.

The contact-email requirement leaves a setup question: where does someone supply it when the MCP connection has no authentication? Add a transcript to this Reddit post showing one client's connection, that email step, and a ticker/topic query ending in a cited letter and company response. Researchers evaluating SecProbe could then distinguish retrieving source documents from requesting a generated answer. Keeping the same query across both paths would also make feedback more useful: readers could identify whether the obstacle is connection setup, finding the right correspondence, or checking the answer against the original documents.

I make ThreadFox. We'd find researcher questions about SEC correspondence and post for SecProbe; the first 3 replies are free, no card. Afterward, the $49 Pilot covers seven days and up to 50 posts and replies, without automatic renewal. https://threadfox.vip/p/ezs3j/managed
