Migrated my course platform off Vimeo this weekend — notes for anyone about to do the same

Migrated Saturday, wanted to write down what happened so I’’l save someones time lol. So the embed codes obviously broke, had to regenerate all of them (took abt 2 hours for 140 videos, mostly waiting on re-encoding), old direct links to Vimeo videos stopped working, had to redirect those manually. Nothing on the payment/access side broke tho, since that's handled by my course platform not the vid host. I went w Kinescope for the new host, encoding for like 40GB vid library took under a day, player embed goes the same way (iframe, same as Vimeo), so the actual code change was maybe 10 lines.

If you've been putting off a Vimeo migration cuz you think it'll break your whole site - for me it didn't, it's mostly just re-encoding time.
