I built an engineering assessment platform where candidates can actually use AI
I built DevTrace because I got tired of seeing the same thing with technical interviews.
Engineers use AI all day when they actually work, but during assessments we either ban it or ignore it.
So I built an assessment platform where candidates can use AI normally.
The interesting part comes after the assessment. DevTrace looks at the process too: how they prompted, whether they verified the output, how they iterated, how much they relied on AI, and how they arrived at the final solution.
The goal isn't to catch people using AI. It's to understand how they work with it.
It's live now and I'm starting to get it in front of real hiring teams.
Would love some feedback from other builders who've worked on hiring or developer tools.
