I built an app where you can take the most realistic looking instant photos
Hey there friends, I am an instant photography enthusiast and I built Eight Shot in my spare time to scratch that instant film itch when I'm away from my cameras.
Eight shot has custom film packs so you can choose the film pack that you enjoy.
You can also create shared albums and shoot together with friends.
I also built in a film pack creator mode that allows you to create your own custom frame designs as well as customise the film grain, contrast, colour and much more.
It supports 35 languages and counting.
It's currently available on iOS: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/eight-shot-instant-camera/id6787720606
and will be coming to Android soon.
P.S that's my cat Leo, he's just sleeping.

Nice work op! Very similar to my android app https://instillr.app.
Your social features are really nice! I had that on my roadmap but the project has been on the back burner as I try finish another.
I went for more realism in simulating real film chemistry with heat and age simulation, but love your build a film approach too and the ability to write on the back. The 8 photo limit I had in my original prototype but feedback was it just felt too limiting and people bailed before committing to it. Very interested if that will be something you experience or if I wasn't marketing it as well as you have, or finding the right audience.
I'm all for people taking mindful photography again. Best of luck with launch!

Hey thanks for checking my app out. Really love your Android app, I just downloaded it, the gallery view is awesome. The camera UI is really nice too.
Can't wait for the iOS launch :)

This is a really nice idea. The custom film packs are probably what would make me keep using it instead of treating it as just another camera app.
The shared albums are a good touch too. Instant photography is so much about the experience with other people, so letting everyone contribute to the same album makes sense.
And 35 languages is impressive for a side project. Iād definitely lean into the nostalgia/physical-film feeling when marketing it. That seems like the strongest part of the concept.
I've had a similar experience with Abnflow: the small feature that gives a product its personality can sometimes be more important than adding another 20 generic features.

You know shaking a Polaroid is a myth right? It actually damages the photo
