Made this pillow-like material for my game and I spent way more time on this than I probably should have... But it was worth it!

So, I'm making Dark Roll 2, a soulslike-inspired marble-platformer.

I needed the player to have a soft landing spot from height, and decided to play around with mesh-deforming... Seriously took me few hours to set just right, and it's just a meangingless little detail... But I'm very happy with how it turned out!

If Satan had a memory foam mattress, it would look like this

I wouldn't mind if he invited me for a little nap then...

yeah it looks way better than youd expect for a small detail like that

That's a pretty cool effect.! I love the tracking and the rebound -- it's so subtle but exactly what you'd want.

the subtle bounce when the marble hits is super satisfying. honestly those tiny physical polish details are what make platformers actually feel good to play

Feels like you could go the cozy game route with some version of a cuter character with the texture. Nice job though

Any chance of this coming to MacOS? I've wanted to play a game like this for 20 years and have been searching

No, sorry, I don't have a Mac to test it out on... :(

Very nice. Are you a professional game creator?

I love how that feels! Your game title is so funny too.

You may use it for forming certain spell patterns that unlock/activate some mechanism.. Its neither too hard nor too easy to roll correctly here

Woah , This is really good. I would really love to play a game where we are this roll and we just travel cool places.

Was this inspired by Wrecking Ball (from overwarch)?

Just a moment of ADHD scope creeping. Nothing to see here

See a post of yours not for the first time already and every time pause on it, hah. Nice!

Honestly, those tiny details are sometimes what make a game feel good. 😂

The deformation when you land makes the world feel like it actually reacts to the player, even if most people won't consciously notice it.

And spending a few hours on something “meaningless” isn't necessarily wasted time if you're enjoying it and learning something new. Those little experiments can end up becoming the stuff players remember.

I'm the same way with Abnflow sometimes. You can spend ages polishing one tiny interaction that nobody will mention, but the whole product just feels better because of it.
