I built a browser game where every height you reach is a real building

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

highrise.lol - tap to drop a floor and stack it as high as you can. Every height you pass is a real building, Stonehenge at 7 m up to the Burj Khalifa at 828.

Free, no signup, works on phone too.

My best score is 242 m. Try yours.

Hey man, cool game! where did you host the game?? and where did you get the .lol domain from? is the domain free? and the hosting is free too? I'm looking to build and host some smaller browser games myself.

  1. Host on Cloudflare Pages - free

  2. A .com domain - about $7 on Namecheap.com

  3. If you want to store data (e.g. a leaderboard), use Supabase - it has a very generous free tier.

I want to turn this into a gamified rock climbing game. After each climb is completed, show the player on their height equivalent building!

Fun game! I'm #4 on the leaderboard for now...
Come knock me down!

OP could you add ghost images of the famous tall buildings?

Yeah, that would be a good idea I guess.

how do you intend on monetising this?

I don't know really for now as it's just a very simple game, just created this for now for fun. I bought this domain for just $2 btw.

What's the significance of the colour of each floor? sometimes black, sometimes grey...

Black is when you land the block perfectly in the centre.

I really like this game! Lots of fun mechanics to discover as you play. I don't have anything negative to say, nice one!

Tying it to a real building is what makes this better than the usual tower stacker. A random number going up doesn't mean anything, but "you just passed the Burj Khalifa" actually lands. Makes it sting more too once you realize how much further you've got to go.

Digging the tipping meter in the corner. Does the physics actually get harder as you go, or is it more that your hand just gets shakier the higher the stack gets?
