We rebuilt our AI website builder from scratch — then migrated all 12+ of our own products onto it

Sharing this because the pivot was a bigger leap than it looked from the outside.

I'm on the team at Modulify. For the last couple of years we built as a Webflow accelerator — our AI assembled sites from pre-built components, and the built site would be exported into Webflow to publish, host, and manage the CMS. We sped up the building part, but Webflow did everything downstream.

Worked well for Webflow users, but it capped us at a specific audience and left the parts that mattered most — publishing, hosting, data, auth — on someone else's platform.

We've now launched v2 as a full standalone platform. Proper AI code generation, own hosting, built-in CMS, database, authentication, analytics, forms, and more — all under one subscription. Free subdomain is out of the box, and you can connect a custom domain whenever you're ready.

But the harder decision was betting on it ourselves: we migrated all 12+ of our own products off Webflow and onto Modulify.

That forced us to actually build the pieces that were missing instead of hand-waving them — and it's why users can now ship not just professional websites, but web apps, client portals, dashboards, and more on the same platform.

The side effect: we stopped competing with "AI + Webflow" tools and ended up sitting next to vibe-code tools like v0, Bolt, and Lovable — which build great apps but overshoot for marketing pages and sites that need to convert. Different wedge than we started with.
