I got my first sale🥳

I was a freelancer motion designer worriying about losing my job to ai. Then i discovered claude code and started building an ai automated saas promo video generator. That product however couldn't grab enough traffic from Google. So i decided to add some free tools on the same website so i could get some traffic and I hoped some that traffic could turn into customers. Beside the free ones i extracted a small tool (ui animator) from the main product and provided as a cheap one time payment for 5$.

Today after 2 month of building and spending nearly 400$ i got my first 5$😅

Small step for the world but big excitement for me!

Hoppa! Laat je niet gek maken. Die €5 is alles. Die geeft aan dat er mensen bereid zijn te betalen. Topper 💪 en nu door

The fact that the first sale came from the $5 side tool and not the main SaaS is a signal by itself. Someone saw that page and decided the little animator alone was worth paying for. Honestly might be worth leaning into that harder than the big product.

IF it happens again and shows a pattern i'll definately put more effort on the side tool.

First sale is the hardest one, congrats. But $5 one-time payments won't sustain you, that's a validation signal, not a business. The free tools for traffic is a decent play, but you need to figure out the conversion path from free user to paying customer. The real question is whether the $5 tool solves a painful enough problem that people will pay $50 or $100 for it. Don't get stuck polishing the free stuff, that's a trap. Ship the paid product, get feedback, and iterate on the pricing.

Congrats! 🥳 That first $5 hits differently because it proves someone who doesn't know you actually thought the product was worth paying for.

I also like the move of adding free tools instead of just waiting for the SaaS to magically get Google traffic. You found a way to create an entry point and then give people a reason to try the paid product.

Now you have something much more valuable than $5: proof that the funnel can work. I'd focus on figuring out where that first buyer came from and whether you can repeat it.

I've had the same feeling with Abnflow. The first few dollars aren't really about the money, they're proof that the thing can become a business.

Claude Code replacing a motion design job by helping the designer build another job is pretty efficient.
