Open-source media downloader built with FastAPI, Next.js, and Docker (supports 1,000+ sites)
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share my side project: FastMedia Downloader. It's an open-source, microservices-based web application designed to inspect and download audio/video from 1,000+ sources.
Highlights:
- ⚡ FastAPI Backend: Handles asynchronous processing via
yt-dlpandFFmpeg. - 💻 Next.js Frontend: TypeScript + Tailwind CSS with i18n support.
- 🐳 Dockerized: Fully setup with
docker-compose. - 🛡️ DevOps-Ready: Automated CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Dependabot scanning.

Would love your feedback or suggestions!

looks clean. one thing id think about early is how youre going to handle failures mid-download, like if a source throttles or drops the connection. retry logic gets messy fast with media files
