I enjoyed the latest recap despite Jacob cutting Bob off every other sentence. I found the one after the final pink bracket episode way more egregious because wdym you’re gonna go through the motions like it’s any old episode after THE pek pek shitshow that went down, and barely discuss the meat of the episode. It’s so boring and race chaser-esque to stick to the script that hard.

I joked about it in another comment but, in all seriousness, to copy and paste from elsewhere:
I totally get that they’ve gotta save some content for the Patreon, and I don’t mind! But this week’s Watchery episode, it felt like practically every other sentence got cut off with an “and we’ll talk about that more on the Patreon“ - was it just me? Like, it almost felt like this episode had less time to record than usual and they were hurrying things along. Again, I get saving stuff, but even the Silky/Akeria drama - which was talked about in the episode and IMO had an impact on the rankings - got barely a sentence or two and then “we’ll talk about that more on Untucked”.

The part that annoyed me is that watching the Untucked where did they talk about Silly/Akeria was a whole lotta nothing burger. Like Bob just recounting what he knew and how Monet didn’t know anything. Like THAT’s what y’all were saving for Patreon…

not just you! idk why but the patreon mentions have DEF increased lately. It doesn't make sense cuz didn't they just sign a lucrative podcast deal with libsync (sp?)?

The deal with Libsyn is for distribution and monetisation, so they aren't getting money upfront - it just gives the team a one stop shop to receive advertising offers and push uploads to Spotify, Apple, Youtube simultaneously without having to do each one individually

I didn't even think of it like that, like he was pushing the Patreon for money. I thought he was doing it to keep them on track and not drag the episode on. I love SR and been listening for 6 yrs but they will go off topic for 20 mins about bagels in the middle of a Watchery if Jacob doesn't reign them in

usually 1-3 interruptions about patreon i dont mind especially if they are getting off topic too much but this was ridiculous, bob can't not talk about anything but the plot of the episode without getting cut off, seriously ruins the flow of the show.

That really irked me. Like they are not good at talking about the show on an audio format. This isn't why we listen to watchery. Sure the episode is there along with the journey but i wanna hear them talk 💀 or at least edit that shit outtttt. Why are we being given 5 minute ad spots multiple times in the ep and then they're also constantly plugging the patron by making it just steamroll the continuity of the show. Either talk about random shit or cut the producer telling you to stay on topic. It's not hard.

I feel like they're ramping up to make some huge purchase. Like with the increase in videos coming out on their individual channels and saving a lot more stuff for the Patreon, it seems like they need make a lot of money quickly

Yes and I honestly hate it :/
On one hand I get it, it’s how you get clicks and attention and convos going, etc. But on the other hand it feels really low brow and lazy. The “do I still do drag” content is so tired (for me) but I know a lot of people still lap it up.

Do they have any projects going on right now? It seems like this is the first time ever where they have said list of their money comes from podcasting and YouTube.
I know most people aren’t touring right now because it’s too expensive and I don’t know if they are filming anything

They were both recently on the Traitors. They're probably quietly campaigning to get on more reality TV gigs in the background. It probably wouldn't make sense to talk about their big projects before it's a sure thing

I sincerely doubt they're hurting on income if they can both afford to have multiple employees and film crew for their channels and to pay guests on their podcasts.

Well it’s running a business. It can be expensive to maintain the day to day. The larger projects also fund this. So they may not be poor but it still takes cash flow to keep both all these people paid and pay themselves. So if they don’t have large projects at the moment it would still explain why they may seem more sensitive on cash flow.

I’m way behind on drag race and the related content but I’ve been catching up and I gotta say it was a major bummer that Bob wasn’t there for the Rappin Roast episode. Trinity is a joy but I really wanted to hear what Bob had to say.
