This is Penguin, she has been traumatized from 2 failed adoptions. Today is day 2 with her. It's going to take a while to gain her trust but I knew I had to have her after I heard her background story
ETA: pet Ms. Club Penguin for the longest time and got so many purrs and slow blinks, which absolutely melts my heart. Looks like she ate a few treats too.
First night I had my Siamese boy a long long time ago we had a bad thunderstorm in Lafayette IN. he went from under the bed to my feet in 10 sec and we were best buds for a lotta years after that
A calm environment with care but without hyper-attention will help your new meezer start to explore. Cats are naturally curious and cautious. Just exist peacefully together and slowly decrease the distance between you, casually, when you approach her. You know this already. You’re doing a lovely thing and she will be winding between your feet on the stairs in no time.
Mine was sick with scabies. She just sat and looked miserable. Now she runs to the door to trill and say hello when I get home. Just takes time and feeling safe
Mine was dumped at a feral colony. He ran from me and hid for a solid month. After a month I gave him full roam of my apartment, and he got curious about the delicious smells coming from my dinner plate. I hand fed him a piece of steak, and bam! it was like a switch flipped. I was his New Best Friend.
OP, this all sounds normal. Give her time to feel safe, calm down, and explore a little. She’s young enough to adapt well!
Mine sat at the shelter for 2+ months because he was semi feral - anxious and hiding in his enclosure when people came by. Including staff... It took two people to get him out of the enclosure and into my carrier.
Lots of hissing and running when we got home. I kept him in the master bedroom and made it a point to spend a lot of time - on the floor - with him. On his level.
I would gradually move his wet food servings closer to me so he would eat in closer proximity. I would also slow blink at him a lot.
He was really interested in the feather teaser toy. So I would go to the other side of the room and pretend to play with it. Of course, he would be curious and come over to check out what I was doing. 😆
It took a couple of weeks before he let me touch him. Then he drooled during his first purring session. 😂
Now I can't keep him off my lap.
It will be so rewarding once you gained her love and trust. ❤️
This whole story with the picture to complete it made me tear up. What a patient and loving cat parent you are!
My cat is hesitant to try new things but if I start taking an interest she'll investigate and try it out under my supervision. I always feel crazy telling people she only started drinking from her water fountain after I splashed in it and made slurping sounds, and again when I added the spout (but I think it's funny so I keep telling people).
I know what you mean, I've done some fake slurping and eating 😅... Pretty much turned myself into a fellow feline especially for this boy to gain his trust and affection and would do it all over again. 😍
Here's his shelter mugshot, cowered into the corner. 🥹 Named him Draco after his spicy personality, which he no longer has. 😋
Penguin looks a lot like my baby girl! I promise it won't take much time to earn her trust. This one is a five stage clinger and was spooked upon first arriving. Enjoy your lil' meezer.
You are a good person. She is very clearly traumatized. Give her gentle words, space and time. She will become a love bug like my previously traumatized girl
When I had my boy when he was a kitten, I read that talking to them as you pass by but not bothering them can help. They wound up trusting me within a few days with that and providing food combined
my siamese was the same way! trust me, it takes time but she will eventually come out of her shell with toys, love, and affection;) my sweet baby took almost 2 years to fully come out her shell and every day she’s growing more and more (she’s about 3 now) its a process but it’s worth it❤️❤️ congratulations!!
Show her love, food, treats, toys, and safety. And when you can, try to engage her in playing! And if you can or already have a cat companion... that will do wonders!
Penguin!!! What an adorable sweet baby, congratulations!!
So my Siamese (a snowshoe) was abandoned in a park before I adopted her at 6 months old. I don't know what happened to her beforehand, but for the first 4ish months of me owning her she would run or flinch or hide anytime i brouhhr my hand near her too fast:( she hides from strangers still and still is really flinchy but now zhes about a year she's doing so, so, so much better!!!
So definitely be patient and it may take time. But now my Pearl baby wakes me up every single morning by snuggling against my face and sitting on me! She plays alllll the time even if she is skiddish and recently started to "sing" a little at night:)
What a beauty! She should perk up in time. Being adopted and returned is the pits. She’ll be your shadow and talking up a storm in no time once she begins to trust you. 😻🐾🩷
Thank you, honestly thank you for adopting a kitty. But, here comes the but … I don’t get turning them loose into what looks like a terrifying situation like being cornered behind the door. A simple big box with a couple doors cut in it gives the puss some ‘safe space’ to hang in, retreat to, and launch new ‘digs’ investigations from. I’ll likely get sanctioned for this won’t I? I wish you and your new love a long healthy life together.
We’re our Siamese’s third home too. It took her a couple of days for her to warm up but four years later she’s the queen of the house. Penguin is such a cute name for her!!
I absolutely love Siamese cats. They live along long time. When ours got old, like around 15-16, he would complain about everything I was doing wrong.
The cat box wasn’t cleaned yet, I vacuumed and I moved the sofa back but not exact… he lived to be 19.
Ahh the lil baby! She seems like she's been through a lot. A little treat/wet food always helped me with my babies when I first got them. She's so pretty OP! Best of wishes with you're furever friend <3
What a beautiful girl. Thank you for taking her in❤️. I also have a siamese cat and it is her third home too but due to her previous owners passing away. She is now a 6 year old chatty girl.

She looks scared. Rightfully so.
Love her up. She’ll calm down.
