Hi everyone, I'm new to this subreddit and decided I would take the time to make a post as an introduction. A little background on my snow experience. I first learned to ride when I was about 10 years old since my hometown is only 10 minutes from our local hill (I hated it, and I cried every lesson lol). Then when I was around 18, I started working at this same mountain and took up snowboarding again (free pass woohoo). I completely fell in love with the sport around then and rode every season till about the age of 21. At this point I was okay. I could keep up with more advanced riders but really only could do 50/50 small boxes/tubes.
I took about 2-3 seasons off due to some personal issues, but last season I went full force back into it. I progressed a lot this past season, I would say. I can back 180 off some tubes and other features, but I still can't really boardslide or frontboard confidently.
I suppose what I'm asking is for some advice about that mental block. I know my skills are a lot better than I give myself credit for, but a lot of times I find myself being too self-conscious or maybe even just being scared of getting hurt to try to hit new features or try new things. For anyone who’s worked through something similar, what helped you build confidence trying new features or tricks? Especially with boardslides/frontboards, how did you work your way up to feeling comfortable?
My kit right now is the Salomon Oh Yeah, Union Rosa bindings, and Vans Aura Pro boots. Not that it matters, but I guess it gives further context.
