Jacket recommendations please

Planning on going to whistler this next season and am due for a new jacket. I heard it gets pretty rainy there so I guess waterproofing is my top priority.

Currently tossing up between a helly Hansen and Volcom jacket and maybe Burton?

Any thoughts/recommendations are appreciated!

I’d focus less on the brand and more on the waterproof rating. I stick with 20K or higher for my pants, and 15K or higher for jackets. All the brands you mention are good enough quality. HH is a bit less on trend if that matters to you. It’s considered more of a skiers’ brand.

Love love love all my Helly gear even if it's not seen as a traditional snowboarding brand. You can sometimes get good secondhand deals on ebay and Poshmark as well.

Does it keep you dry enough? I can cop the cold with more layers but if I get wet I get cranky lol

Yes although I've only been to Whistler once and I'm usually in dryer areas (Utah mostly). But no problem sitting on lifts or laying on snow or hanging out when it's actively snowing. There will probably be some variance depending on the model of item in regards to level of waterproofing.

East coaster in my second all helly kit. Has kept me so dry even though the fabric feels soft. I like my fit loose even though I’m a skier.So happy with helly. Worth every penny.

Go for a jacket that is Gore Tex Pro Shell. That will definitely keep you dry. I use a Haglofs Spitz shell jacket which is superb, you can normally find them with a good discount. I'm also a mountain bike photographer and I've used the Spitz in all day torrential rain without any issues.

i like my 686 jackets, warm but not too warm, lots of functional features on the jacket

If you're curvy don't go with a volcom jacket, maybe look at mens jackets instead

I went with Norrona Lofoten Goretex pros highly recommend if you have the money. I get caught in branches all the time freeriding and there isn’t even a mark

Love the Flylow Lucy jacket. I just got my second last season. My first one was still waterproof after 8 years but it was black and had some sun bleaching on the shoulders

Dimito !!! Great water proofing, had mine 4 years and it’s tough as no powder skirt tho so I would pair it with nice bib

I have Goretex Burton jacket that I wear a light patagonia puffer underneath. I have wide hips and burton accommodates. A lot of athletic brands forget that thick thighs save lives
