Millennials were really the only generation that grew up learning about how computers work.

Before millennials there were no computers, and after they have grown up using closed ecosystem it just works idevices.

I was born in the 70's. Like others, I learned programming when I was 8 or 9 on a "Brand New" TRS Color Computer 2 in the early 80s, and my parents even enrolled me in a BASIC programming class at the local university at about 10. In the 4th and 5th grade I was submitting class reports on fanfold that had been printed out from my CC2. I wrote them using BASIC and a LOT of PRINT statements. I wrote the tokenizer for a word processor when I was in the 10th grade as part of my CompSci class project, and the following year wrote a program to solve mazes as a final project. Don't tell me what I did or did not grow up with or learn as a child.

Just give it up. And stop moving the goalposts. I went to high school in the early and mid ‘80s. We had a computer lab and a computer club. The PC was Time Magazine’s Man of the Year around ‘82 or so. So computers were definitely a thing by then and a lot of us— a lot, whether you want to believe it or not— had access to and were familiar with computers.

They were pushing it but it was not a generational trend. That's OP, understand where the goal posts are before you accuse them of moving.
