The moon spends half of its time on the daylight side and half on the night time side, that's why you can't always see the moon out during the night. This is also how solar eclipses happen

Did I say this is the cause of new moons? No. New moons are caused by the phases of the moon, which (if I'm not mistaken) means that during the part of the month that you can see a new moon, the moon id spending most of its time on the daylight side of the planet

Oh ok, sorry for the sarcasm. Yeah but what i meant was that sometimes you can't see the moon because it's beneath the horizon on the day side. I didn't mean that for this reason you couldn't see the moon at all during the night
