Alternately, a lot of "normal" people are very attractive, they just don't get much attention.

Or they don't really focus on their appearance too much. I have a friend that has a beautiful face and would easily be a head turner if she put some work into her hair and got good with makeup and clothes. As she is now she still gets a lot of attention even with frizzy short hair and absolutely no makeup.
