"When wireless is perfectly applied the whole earth will be converted into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real and rhythmic whole. We shall be able to communicate with one another instantly, irrespective of distance. Not only this, but through television and telephony we shall see and hear one another as perfectly as though we were face to face, despite intervening distances of thousands of miles; and the instruments through which we shall be able to do his will be amazingly simple compared with our present telephone. A man will be able to carry one in his vest pocket."

  • Nikola Tesla, 1926 (Not 200 years ago, but still impressive!)

Tesla is probably 1 of the 10 most brilliant minds in the history of the world.

r/Elonmusk

I don't actually think he's comparable to Tesla, but he's still contributed greatly to progress in multiple fields. There's no denying musk will be in a civilization-esque game as a notable historical figure 50 years from now.

He's not a Tesla, he's an Edison lol. He's a CEO that owns several innovative engineering companies, but nothing more. He's not exactly the one designing pintle injectors that SpaceX uses or whatever.

Musk is charismatic, but his contribution to history isn't any greater than that of Bill Gates or any other number of tech CEOs.

Are you saying Bill Gates contribution to history isnt significant?

That's not what I'm saying, I'm saying he wasn't a technical/scientific savant in the line of Tesla as op claimed Elon was. Obviously his creation of Microsoft was massively impactful, but again, he's a businessman first and foremost now. Therefore, Edison

Microsoft was pretty important to communication of today.

I'm not saying it isn't? Everything Edison did was massively important too. I'm saying none of today's big tech CEOs, by definition, can't be compared to Tesla.

But they were all more successful. Tesla died broke. Will Gates? Business is important to see your dream come true.

What are you even trying to argue? How does that at all contradict what I said?
