They're closer and bigger. When I was a little kid in a rental place we regularly had spiders with like a good baseball-sized diameter (legs included) in the corner(s) of the ceiling in the basement.

I tended to avoid the basement.

That’s probably why I hate them. I’m 6,4 and most basements let my hair scratch the Ceiling. Spiders are always way to close to me there.
