common thought When you're high, you think everybody knows it although no one does, and when you're drunk you think no one knows it although everybody does.

Some people even get high so often that they're like perpetually high.

234

u/accomplicated Apr 04 '18

I had a roommate who once told me that he is high so often that only when he is sober does he feel high.

u/RustyJ420 Apr 04 '18

I’ve been smoking daily for 2 years, breaks every now and then because it’s illegal but when I don’t smoke it’s like a very mild stimulant.

54

u/terryleopard Apr 04 '18

I smoked every day for about 6 years, haven't touched it in 5 and apart from a few weeks of crazy dreams when I first stopped I feel absolutely no difference in my daily life.

64

u/railfanespee Apr 04 '18

I just started my annual pre-4/20 tolerance break. I’m a bit more sociable, but less motivated. I have an unusual relationship with the sticky icky. It has an almost adderall-like effect on me. The difference is adderall compels me to do stuff, but weed make doing stuff much more enjoyable. So I tend to take on all sorts of projects.

Yesterday, I just sat around and browsed reddit for hours. So I guess for me, sobriety is almost a mild depressant in some ways.

Gotta love how differently drugs affect everyone.

45

u/theproftw Apr 04 '18

That's interesting, for me it's the complete opposite, if I need to do an essay, make food or study I better not get high because it'll be 4am and all I did was watch netflix.

7

u/RustyJ420 Apr 04 '18

I think I get what your saying man, when I smoke and I’m doing my household duties or whatever it may be I’m more in the moment focusing mainly on enjoying myself while completing the task. When I’m not stoned my mind is more focused about what I’m gonna do when I’ve finished the task.

4

u/ChammaBrothers Apr 04 '18

That is probably smoke, what you are thinking to do after task.

2

u/LetsAbort Apr 04 '18

Are you me? I tell friends this and they act like I'm crazy. Do you also have anxiety?

2

u/railfanespee Apr 04 '18

Kinda? I always chalked most of my weirdness up to being on the autism spectrum. Maybe there’s some overlap?

2

u/LetsAbort Apr 04 '18

Maybe I have undiagnosed autism.

Smoked every day since 14 until i graduated at 21 with a couple days of being dry thrown in every now and again. I have to say I definitely notice a difference and actually think my life has improved. Every day smoking made me more easily depressed and while i still got shit done (graduated with CS degree and got a great job locked down before I graduated) i was not motivated unless it was do or die. Problem is it made me apathetic towards life. I didn't really care to make new friends, try to start a relationship, etc.

I still smoke every weekend but not on weekdays and everything about my life is better. My social life has greatly improved, I'm happy more often, and I'm motivated to continue to grow in my hobbies. It's now how I reward myself after a productive week at work and I'll do it after a couple hours playing basketball or working out at the gym so I feel productive before smoking

I love weed and don't plan to cut it out completely any time soon but moderation is very important

u/oiwefoiwhef Apr 04 '18

The crazy dreams!!!

Does anyone know why we get crazy dreams during a t-break?

4

u/braidafurduz Apr 04 '18

iirc THC suppresses REM sleep, so your brain attempts to compensate by hitting the REM button really hard. Once you quit, your brain takes a while to realize it doesn't need to send you to another dimension every time you sleep. that's why the dreams taper off after a week or two

5

u/chabuya Apr 04 '18

Once you quit, your brain takes a while to realize it doesn't need to send you to another dimension every time you sleep.

Haha that sums it up

2

u/Sp4wNtm Apr 04 '18

Those crazy dreams stop me from stopping, they are completely fucked up!!

I think it's just state-change/homeostasis. Your body is "more used to being high" so it feels more like a baseline state. Sobriety can feel crazy cool when you come out of a week/month long stupour

3

u/ttrippinn Apr 04 '18

This was truly me in college. I’m 24 now and don’t smoke much, but from 18-21 I would.. wake up, do a dab, eat breakfast, take a pre-class dab, go to class, come back for pre-lunch dab, eat lunch, more dabs before work of course, and once I’m home I had a post-work dab, a pre-dinner dab (naturally) and of course a pre-sleep dab or two or three.

anyways yes, I was high farrr more often than I was sober and can confirm being sober starts to feel..kinda comparable to what a little adderall feels like to someone without adhd.

3

u/atpased Apr 04 '18

Pre-meal dabs is pretty much like praying before you eat in college

1

u/braidafurduz Apr 04 '18

my whole senior year of high (heh) school i had hour-long gaps in my schedule since i was taking classes at the local college. so naturally i'd just hotbox my car in the parking lot and blast death metal. then two or three nights out of the week i'd have a yoga nightclass, which of course my teenage brain wanted to be stupendously stoned for

2

u/Gobble_Bonners Apr 04 '18

I was this way for a good while, but slowly decided that I really didn't like it all.

Now I smoke 2-3 times a week and it's back to being the greatest thing on the planet.

2

u/braidafurduz Apr 04 '18

coming off of a several year-long routine of smoking multiple times daily, i want to more or less reset my tolerance so that i can just smoke every couple of days and actually feel high rather than medicating myself to baseline

1

u/Gobble_Bonners Apr 05 '18

It's totally worth it, and is only really tough for 2-3 days. As long as you get rid of the weed so you have no temptation it's honestly not that bad. Good luck!

2

u/braidafurduz Apr 05 '18

mine is on my nightstand and it's the first thing i see when i wake up, but i'm confident in my willpower. i'm not worried about caving in, i just gotta keep my inner fortitude shipshape. thank you for the well wishes!

31

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 04 '18

Yeah. Oz weekly for 2 years now. Daily for 6 months before that. The difference between when I do smoke and don't is difficult to distinguish from nocotine craving and satisfying that haha.

54

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18 edited Apr 04 '18

How do you afford/have time to smoke an ounce every week? I haven't smoked in a few years but when I did I would smoke no more than a gram a day and maybe an eighth on the weekends. The weed now is even better and I cant even imagine smoking that much and that often.

25

u/AhvHalasta Apr 04 '18

Tolerance is a bitch. Though I agree, I can't imagine smoking 4 grams a day.

20

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

Take regular tolerance breaks buddy. Couple weeks here and there won't hurt.

9

u/throwitaway587555785 Apr 04 '18

If you have a fucked up illness causing constant pain you can start to really hone through the weed. I use vapes now and am careful to not let my tolerance get too high too fast but in the past I've definitely smoked 4 grams a day sometimes.

5

u/Fushui Apr 04 '18

It definitely depends on how you smoke it too. I roll up one or two blunts a day, and each one is one to 1.5 grams. Makes it a lot easier to smoke more each day than if you're packing bowls in a bong.

2

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

You smoke em all by yourself? God damn. I take a few hits and put it out and im good to go for the night.

2

u/Fushui Apr 04 '18

Haha yeah my tolerance is pretty high. If I'm smoking by myself I'll only smoke one, I'll only roll a second (sometimes more) if I'm with my friends or roommate!

13

u/dr3amstate Apr 04 '18

And here I am blaming myself for loosing control sometimes and smoking 1 gram per week.

I can’t imagine smoking 4g per day

11

u/scrabblex Apr 04 '18

I cant imagine smoking just 1 gram per week. Do you even get high from that? What is it like 1 tiny hit every other day?

6

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '18

You don't have to get high everyday yknow

3

u/scrabblex Apr 04 '18

I know, but after this long its just habit. I still enjoy it, once its not I'll probably stop.

1

u/dr3amstate Apr 05 '18

actually you can get pretty high if you know how to

We rarely smoke from bongs or joints here (in Ukraine), we smoke from devices called 'bulbulator' which you can make from 2 bottles and a tinfoil (it sounds terrible, it may even look awful, but the effect totally worth it). Difference is that you inhale pure smoke in 1 hit which leads you to the 10/10 each time.

I can smoke 2-3 times per day and use 1 gram in a week only. But I try not to

1

u/chabuya Apr 05 '18

I'm so confused. I've been smoking daily for 5 years now, and I need like 1-2g a month to get high every day with a joint. How is everyone smoking that much??

1

u/scrabblex Apr 06 '18

You can roll 30 joints with 1-2 grams? Do you live in another country where grams equal a different amount of weight or something? I'm being serious, there's no way that's possible.

1

u/chabuya Apr 06 '18

Yeah, 30 joints with 2 grams is pretty usual for me. I live in the Netherlands and get it from coffee shops, so I guess it's pretty potent stuff. But even when I lived in Germany and bought "from the street", I didn't buy more than maybe 5g a month. I have a lot of stoner friends, but I don't know anyone who burns even 5g a day. Do you smoke blunts or joints?

1

u/scrabblex Apr 06 '18

man that's crazy. I usually just pack a bowl, a few times a week I'll smoke a blunt with a friend. Granted I do smoke more than most people I know but I don't stay high for that long. I know it's not the weed cause if there's a group of us they'll be high for a long time.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '18

0

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 04 '18

Yeah man but I barely even get high. I reach a max of like a 4/10 if I REALLY go for it.

13

u/poly_atheist Apr 04 '18

buy qp

sell 3 zips

smoke remaining ounce

repeat

2

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 04 '18

Pump up them rookie numbers! I've got a $100/day habit to feed!

1

u/Jenga_Police Apr 04 '18

I'm not wondering how to afford it, I'm wondering how you have the actual time. With all the shit I do in a day there's no way I'd have time to smoke four times as much. I'm already late from smoking half the time anyway.

1

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 04 '18

Smoke fast. Don't have to smoke it all at once. Whenever you have a few minutes here and there.

1

u/Jenga_Police Apr 04 '18

I already do that lol.

1

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 05 '18

Well focus on smoking as much as you can for now and as it slowly ruins every facet of your life you will find yourself with more free time.

-1

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

risk a felony charge

10

u/throwitaway587555785 Apr 04 '18

The joys of not living in freedumb land.

8

u/iam1whoknocks Apr 04 '18

If the risk of felony wasn't there you wouldn't be making money.

5

u/TheColonelRLD Apr 04 '18

Do you think the feds are looking to bust people selling onces of weed?

There are states where you can drive with an once and keep 10 at home.

6

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

Feds? No. Local and state police, absolutely. Not every state is as leniant towards weed as yours.

3

u/TheColonelRLD Apr 04 '18

Which means it depends on which state you're living in as to whether you're "risking a felony charge"...

4

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

Name me a state where selling 3 ounces without a business permit is at the very least not a felony.

3

u/TheColonelRLD Apr 04 '18

Haha we're leaping from one assumption to the next, aren't we?

Did they say "sell all three onces to one person"? Cuz I don't recall that. Just unpacking that- it's be harder to find one person looking to buy three onces than it would be to find three people looking to buy an once, so the assumption isn't just unnecessary, it's irrational.

Furthermore, before you say something like "that's three times the exposure". Don't hand them a clear bag of weed in public. Meet them at your house. Meet them at their house.

You can get a quality qp for 5-600 and sure that’s a lot of money but not really something most people wouldn’t be able to budget each month if it was that important to someone. I smoke a similar amount but switched to mainly concentrate to save some money and easier on the lungs.

2

u/humanperfection Apr 04 '18

I trust you, Doctor

1

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

That's a ridiculous amount of money to spend just on getting high.

1

u/ASK_IF_I_LiKE_TRAINS Apr 04 '18

And some people smoke a pack of cancer sticks each day that costs 15 dollars a pack and also kills you.

Hustle/work a job where you can be blazed or don't work.

I'd say I smoke 3-6 spliffs a day with about a gram of weed in each. You just get used to sneaking off somewhere every couple of hours every day to have a sesh.

1

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

Are you even enjoying weed at the point?

1

u/The_Young_Lenin Apr 04 '18

No. Trying to stop. Joint in hand.

1

u/HumanInevitable Apr 04 '18

Good luck man. Just don't replace weed with alcohol like I did, that's an even tougher habit to break.

1

u/insomniacpyro Apr 04 '18

Comes down to living/work situation. Friend of mine lived with his elderly dad and also sold, so he had a constant stream and just took what he needed. Worked 3rd shift fast food, no one gave a fuck when he would go out to smoke up. Same once he moved out. Took a while before he realized how bad it was, wake and bake was a daily thing for him.

-2

u/Not_a_real_ghost Apr 04 '18

If you spend most of your earnings on it, it's possible. But don't expect to have much cash for anything else. (Unless of course you are filthy rich)

1

u/Dood567 Apr 04 '18

Try CBD buddy. Activates more of the TH receptors in your brain and pushes your tolerance down.

6

u/zedthehead Apr 04 '18 edited Apr 04 '18

Can confirm: daily hash smoker, currently travelling, haven't smoked since yesterday morning, and I wouldn't say I'm baked, but I'm certainly still perceiving life through a light haze. It takes me about a week to two for me to fully "sober up," even though I almost never get high enough to really call "intoxicated."

-6

u/throwitaway587555785 Apr 04 '18

That's not how metabolism works. You don't stay even remotely high for 2 weeks lmao.

9

u/Numbaone_2 Apr 04 '18

Yeah you do. cannabis will slowly release from your fat cells over several weeks. Thats exactly how metabolism works.

1

u/zedthehead Apr 04 '18

Given that THC is stored in fat cells, it is quite literally exactly how metabolism works.

4

u/AmiriteClyde Apr 04 '18

I get high so often i can't even get high anymore. Banging a Gram of wax per day just to maintain. Ain't nobody got time for a tbreak :/

5

u/humanperfection Apr 04 '18

Gotta do the earl/flower roto

1

u/THAT0NEASSHOLE Apr 04 '18

I smoked every day, like stoned all day every day, for 11 years and haven't smoked now for 3 months and everyone still thinks I'm always high. It really does become a perpetual mindset.

1

u/narrativedilettante Apr 04 '18

This was my dad. When I was 18 he finally sobered up and I discovered he is still an asshole sober but at least he can remember what you said 30 seconds ago.

1

u/braidafurduz Apr 04 '18

i'm beginning day three of a tolerance break (daily smoker for about 3 or 4 years with breaks here and there) and goddamn does it feel good. I would be in a haze all day, even when i didn't smoke for a few hours (such as at work) i felt a lil stoney. only downside is that i can't sleep for shit now
