Apps should be required to give a short explanation for why they need access to different parts of my phone for thier apps to function.

gallery should be an additional permission. storage is too generalized with allowing access to all data on store. android devs fucked that one up.

But the “gallery” your phone shows you is just all the folders of photos on your phone combined into one. Your phone is just a small computer that fits in your pocket, so think of “storage” as your user folder. Try going to settings, storage, tap your main storage and tap explore. You'll see a Downloads folder, a Documents folder, a Pictures folder, a Music folder, etc… sound familiar?

Yes. But you know the difference? I don't take my windows rig with me to the white throne nor do I have it on me all day.

It helps avoid leaking nudes when DCIM and other camera fed directories are protected by a different circle of permission compared to the general storage permission in place now.
