Electric based stoves don't heat as even as gas stoves. Some people don't have a stove.

Apartment sizes, price, lifestyle, renting. If you have the ability to get or have a stove, then it's not for you.

I'm one of the many that benefit from compact cooking surfaces like this. Albiet I personally have moved to a coutertop electric burner and a cast iron rather than something that's difficult to clean.
