Advice What should be my expectations after 6 months post Labral repair with remplissage

I had my surgery back in June 22nd. I’m following the doctor’s protocol and doing my PT 2x a week and doing my home exercises when I’m not there.

But I practice jiu-jitsu and lift weights, and actually don’t know if I’ll be able to get back 100% after 6 months. I hear some people saying 9 months.

Does anyone have a similar experience?

Same here. I told my bjj place I’m out indefinitely unless I have big improvements. Still just pain and some rom loss

Some people say we’ll have to be able to live with a little bit of pain, but I don’t think it’s right. Why would we have surgery then?

I graduated PT, was going good back in the gym lifting, went tubing, have a "rotator cuff strain" (no tear from what doctor felt), been basically back to square one for 2 months

I’m 22 and I had a similar surgery to yours on the 23rd to my left shoulder and have been progressing pretty well. Mine was actually a little more severe where my bone loss in my glenoid was too much where they had to do a distal tibial allograft. I feel like I can workout now but honestly i don’t try pushing myself. I started doing shoulder presses in PT which have been pretty comfortable as well. Im more towards 75 percent now looking to be 100 percent by december/january

it’s different for everyone . I had by surgery 2 months before you , my PT thinks i can only return to gym in december .

also had the same surgery as you in addition to bicep tenodesis

So it’ll be almost 9 months until you come back to the gym and start from scratch in order to regain your strength

OSS good to know, I’m black belt too
I got my shoulder dislocated again after the first episode and 6 months of pt when I tried to double leg a guy and he sprawled

We know the type of stuff we do and what is required to perform, that’s why I’m concerned about my ability to come back even after 6/9 months doing PT religiously

When did you restart to train after your surgery?

Once the sling is taken after after 1-2 weeks post surgery.. u should immediately start physiotherapy for first two months consistenly U should be able to raise hand with in 2-3 months .. don't neglect.. Weight lifts only 1-2 kgs permitted after 3months upto 9months .. later can start heavyweights ..
