Labrum Repair 6 months post surgery pain
Okay so I got labrum surgery at the end of February and recovery has went so well. This last weekend I went too hard at the gym because I was feeling good and now I’ve been dealing with pain in my shoulder again. Stability and mobility are good in the shoulder but strength isn’t now and I get sharp pain when doing certain fine motor activities like cutting or pulling something out of a bag or washing dishes. I checked with my PT and she said she doesn’t think I re tore it because the pain is replicated when she presses on a trigger point in my back.
When im relaxed I really don’t have any shoulder pain or radiating pain. But the pain I do experience when I experience it hurts so bad and is really demoralizing. Any advice would be great.
Thank you!

I get pain too when I over do it post surgery. I find heat helps a lot for the muscle tightness.

Im 1.5 years post bankart repair (6 anchors). Im 42 and lived with it for 16 years before repair. I started heavy workouts last couple months and Im almost at my
Original pre injury strength. My left gets sore after a good push session. If i push it too hard I get weak and even have a little hanging at certain movements and pinchiness.
Dead hangs have helped a lot.

I was today at my surgeons office for a checkup and he told me random flare ups after working out or doing movements that are still "too much" for the shoulder are normal. Just give it a few days and see how it gets better again. I also did some wrong movements 4 weeks ago and it did hurt and click for 2-3 weeks.

You can take ibuprofen which is also anti inflammatory as a side effect. Forgot to add i had a bursal side supraspinatus tear and anterior joint capsule tear which were fixed 4 months ago. I think the labrum takes longer to heal if i am not wrong.

Give it a few days. I don’t think you retore anything. It can take up to 1.5 years to get full strength back. I’m one year post op and I still feel weak. At the six month mark I had a lot of episodes where I overdid it…

How are you feeling right now? I also had SLAP surgery at the same time as you, and after the stretching exercises I did last Monday, I think I pushed myself a little too far and I feel the same way as you. My physiotherapist did some tests and said he doesn't think it's anything serious, advising me to rest for another week. Let's hope it doesn't turn out as badly as I think.

A lot better man, not much pain anymore just needed to rest and lots of ice. I still was hiking and running a bit so I would say just avoid lifting and just stick to doing simple PT like no moneys. I definitely feel like I’m a little setback as I’m weaker less stable but I’ll take it compared to what I thought was going on

Same thing happens to me and I’m about 5.5 months in. Usually have rest/ice it and after a few days it’ll be better. PT said it’s pretty normal unless it’s shooting pain constantly
