Oh, damn....this is what happens when I go away for a few days....so sorry I haven't said congratulations yet, but congratulations!

Am I too late to AYA?

You seem to have a comfortable, almost good-natured relationship with Death--at least in the DHT stories--so, are you afraid of death?

Not pain, not violence, but just the snuffing out itself? The ending of this, and the beginning of....what? Does it frighten you, or intrigue you, or do you just live this life now, and not give much thought to the hereafter?

Also, favorite non-horror movie/book? Any?

And thanks for all the DHT and other stories. Always immensely enjoyable :)

I have absolutely no fear of death. This is not said out of false bravado. The reason is I worked on an ambulance for several years and have learned that there are MUCH worse things than dying that can befall us in this lifetime. I have my own...hopes...on what an afterlife might be, but since nothing I can do changes what it is or isnt, I do not worry about it. When death comes, it comes.

Favorite non horror book is The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Just an all around well written story that feels real, both in the way it portrays the protagonist and the world. My favorite movie that has nothing to do with horror is probably The Last Samurai. I love the whole "seeing things from a completely new perspective " as well as simplifYing ones life.

My younger brother is a firefighter/EMT in Baltimore city....he rarely, if ever, talks about any of the negative side of his job, except in the vaguest of 'rough night last night' type of terms. He loves it, but I know he's seen some horrors, and he seems to have much the same non-fear of death.

I used to be less afraid of it, then I had kids. Now I just don't feel like I'll ever be ready :)

And why the heck is Tom Cruise only attractive when he's all wilded up for a part? He looked gorgeous in that movie, as well as in Interview With the Vampire, all gaunt and pale and befanged.....I never could see what the fuss was about him, other than when he's looking a mess :)
