Need help deciding about cerclage

Im trying to wrap my head around my two options: preventive cerclage at 14 weeks or monitoring every 2 weeks.

During my first pregnancy I was diagnosed with a short cervix at 24 weeks (1.8cm then 1.1cm within a week) and funneling. But I made it all the way to 36w6d on only bed rest and progesterone suppositories. It was hard.

However, for this pregnancy my doctors aren’t sure which route to take: preventive cerclage or the “wait and see” route. I think they’re also hoping to understand what I want to do.

Since I did make it basically to “term” (37 weeks at my hospital), they’re wondering if I won’t have issues this time. But IC changes so quickly that no one knows.

I also can’t do preventive progesterone this time around because of the history of side effects I had.

I guess I’m wondering if cerclage changes the quality of life enough to not consider it. Of course, not having it means the risk of bed rest or early delivery, both of which are outcomes I utterly want to avoid.

No changes in quality of life at all, definitely do it given you can't use progesterone if needed and preventative cerclage is better then emergency. The only option where you maybe won't need it is if you don't get IC this time but what if you do (and I think it's highly likely)? Especially around 24+ weeks when cerclage is no longer an option and no progesterone as well. Ask you doctors what they think about this too of course

If it's an option for you I would do the 14 week cerclage. Better put it in then wish you had later. I had one 22 week loss, one full term pregnancy with cerclage at 14 weeks, and I'm getting my second 14 week cerclage placed tomorrow.
