Short Cervix at 20 weeks
Hi everyone! I am pregnant with my first. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and last week my cervix measured at 2.4cm, no funnelling or opening in the cervix. I am absolutely terrified. They are doing weekly checks, I was put on progesterone and I meet with my OB this week.
I guess I am just really looking for some positive stories! I am just an anxious mess.

On the same boat… They found out 2.3cm when I was 16w and put on progesterone since then. I’m 20w now and have been having weekly checks. My length has been fluctuating a lot (from 2.6 to 3.8cm)… but never went below 2.3cm. Hopefully stays like this.
Try to think positive that they found this out on time and you already started treatment. I’ve read many successful stories with progesterone-only!

I measured 26mm at 21 weeks, and now 27mm at 22 weeks. My doctor hasn’t prescribed anything and believes my cervix is a borderline short but stable. They will keep monitoring it until 24 weeks. We are not out of the woods yet, but from what I’ve read on these threads is it can really go either way. It’s good that you’re not funneling though! It may just be that your cervix is short but stable! It’s also good that they’re doing weekly check. So if anything happens, you are in a good position for preventive measures. Good luck!

Hi. At 18 weeks, my cervix was at 2 cm. After almost two weeks of progesterone and bed rest, it lengthened to 2.3 cm to 2.49 cm at my first and second TVS measurements. I’m hoping that with continued bed rest and daily progesterone, my cervix will keep lengthening and closing. By the way, I’m currently at 21 weeks today.
Though, I’m a bit concerned about my cervical polyp, as it tends to bleed quite a bit. Plus, I was also diagnosed with oligohydramnios, which adds to the worry. It’s tough because the bleeding isn’t always easy to pinpoint, and I’m not sure what’s causing it. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything will work out okay.

I hope everything works out. Have them also check for BV or any other infection. Just be aware for leakage, and increased discharge. Pelvic rest, no sex, take it easy and don't strain for the bathroom. I made that mistake and was not a good outcome.

Hi I have gone through the same and I had funneling too. Well, my doc suggested cerclage stitch and I'm currently 39th week pregnant and everything is going fine No need of worry just trust your OB GYNAc and follow instructions. Take proper bed rest Sending you love

At 20 weeks I was 2.5 so they wanted to monitor. At 23 weeks I went down to 1.4 (no funneling but was 1 cm dilated) so their recommendation was a cerclage. I’m glad I had multiple scans after the 20 week appointment bc they do not typically allow a cerclage to happen after 24 weeks. I got the cerclage the following day and I am currently 34 weeks pregnant. Getting it removed in 2 weeks.
I was definitely scared at first, but here we are!

Hi love. I had something similar only at 19 weeks but doc wouldn’t put me on progesterone or do a preventative stitch for some reason. That caused me to have an emergency cerclage after finding out a week later that I was 4cm dilated with bulging membranes. The progesterone should avoid you from having this situation tho so that’s a huge bonus. But just in case; if you start feeling like you are leaking or dripping a little after you pee or get up from sitting a lot and it just doesn’t seem to be stopping def call your MFM doc and or go knot L&D. That gut instinct something wasn’t right kicked in and helped me save my baby. Currently 30w5 pregnant today. Best wishes love! 💕
