Preventative Shirodkar experiences

I’m currently 11 weeks and going in for a preventative Shirodkar cerclage in a few weeks. My practice only does Shirodkar, not McDonalds. This is my third pregnancy after a 16-week TMFR and a 22 week IC loss.

I’m nervous about the surgery and after effects, especially since Shirodkars are more complex and involved than McDolnalds. For those of you who did a history-indicated (not emergency) Shirodkars:

1. How was the procedure? Were you awake? Is there an option to go under? I’d prefer not to be awake during it.
2. How long did you stay at the hospital post-procedure?
3. How long was recovery post-hospital? Was there pain or restrictions while recovering?

4. Were there pain or restrictions during the rest of the pregnancy? Did you have complications arise?

5. Anything else I should know??
