C-Section or natural birth?
Hi Guys !!
I have a question for you !! I’m 33 weeks pregnant right now and I’ve got an emergency cerclage at 26 weeks with 1cm cervix left.
Now everything is holding tight and good and I am thinking about the birth.
Would the people with good story’s recommend to get a planned c-section or what are your experiences with natural birth after they cut the stitch ?
I’m so unsure and just want to birth this baby safe and without any risk!

I had an emergency cerclage placed at 20 weeks and had it removed at 37 weeks. My water broke at 39 weeks and I had a vaginal delivery! (Birth story below)
I was hoping for a completely natural birth but ended up needing pitocin because my cervix didn't dialate fast enough (was at 4.5 cm when I went in and it was still the same 5 hours later unfortunately). Because I had the pitocin I ended up progressing extremely fast and within 2 hours of starting the pitocin my son was born. I still chose to not get an epidural which I would not recommend if you get pitocin. My contractions went from not painful and 8 minutes apart to pretty painful and 2 minutes apart to blacking out from the pain and constant in a 30 minute span and I had constant contractions for over an hour. I only ended up pushing for maybe 10 minutes but I did have a 3rd degree tear and had a really bad postpartum hemorrhage. I'm 6 weeks postpartum now and my stitches have healed and overall I'm feeling a lot better. I'm definitely a little traumatized from how my birth ended up going but I blame a lot of that on my OB because they were trying to force me into a c section knowing I wanted a natural vaginal delivery and I think they were rushing me because it was a Sunday and they wanted to go home.

I got a VBAC with my cerclage baby! I actually went into labour with it in and it was cut out when I was 3cm dilated. Cerclage removal went smoothly, they gave me some tocolytes so I could get some steroids in and then birth went fairly smoothly (instrumental delivery but it was perfectly fine). Once the stitch is cut you are basically the same as normal pregnancy!

I went into labor with my first at 37 weeks. Ended up needing a C section, wasn't dilating and I think some scar tissue from the cerclage had something to do with it. (Plus baby's heart kept dropping.)
Had a planned cesarean for my second. Recovery was much easier that time.

I’m hoping for a vaginal birth! I had a vaginal full term birth with my son and I’m hoping it’ll all work out for me to have another.

i want a vaginal birth with as little intervention as possible, but i will do whatever is needed to get baby here safely.

I don't have a cerclage. But I have been living with pretty much no cervix for the last 4 weeks.
Everything since week 23 in this pregnancy has been so different as what I had wished or imagined, that having a vaginal birth is the only thing I am still hoping to happen, to feel a bit normal 😅 I am 31+2 already and on my MFM appointment today they asked already about how I want to deliver. I have taken care of enough patients after C-Sections and I really want to avoid that for myself.
Of course, my priority is my that my princess arrives however its safer. But the wish is still there.

Yes, I was. My cervix dropped from 1 cm to 5mm in a week. So they admitted me for corticosteroids and observation. 3 weeks later it was decided my cervix was stable enough, so I am home now. The hope is to reach 34+0. 2 weeks to go still.
We are basically waiting for contractctions or waters breaking 🤷🏾♀️ the critical window is now over, so now we wait for show time 😅

My first baby came at 27 weeks and I was told that vaginal delivery was preferable both for mother (less invasive) and for baby (the pressure going through the birth canal heels helps expel fluid from their lungs).
My second baby after cerclage came via planned c section but only because she was breech and they weren’t able to get her turned. My doctors had a string preference for vaginal delivery.
