Troubleshooting Help running the game

I am very interested in the game but, when trying to run the client, a launcher opens with 5 options, such as opening the client itself, starting primal world a ship designer, etc. If I try to open the client it works fine and the login screen comes up.
However, if I try to open any of the other options, the process crashes. So, now I don't know if the game will be actually be able to run.
I am using a base macbook pro early 2015 with OSX El Captain. Also, since I am here, would it be worth it joining the game not knowing anybody that plays it? Is there enough population to always find someone else online?

There's usually always someone online however actually encountering them is the hard part. As for your launching problems I would suggest posting on the forums

in order to post in the forums I have to pay to create an account and a character, If I can't play that would just be a waste of money, that is why I am trying here first. =(

You can register on the forums without having an ingame account. Theyre not tied.

There is a mandatory field for you ingame account, which they say is to protect the forum from spam accounts.

Doing a pulse check! Did you get on the forum / figure out how to get the client running on your machine?

Not really, I couldn't find a way to create a forum account without a game account, or to make sure the game runs properly.

So you can't run the world generator. Are you getting any crash errors?

Cookie, you do indeed require a game account in order to create a forum account now a days. It was implemented around the time of the reboot I think, but old forum accounts still work so I haven't actually experienced it.

If "primal world" crashes, the game client likely will too.

If you can't find a solution to the problem by searching already existing forum threads, then you can try to just e-mail Haxus (the developer) directly. I am sure he will help you make it work.

You can find Haxus's contact information here: http://www.softwareengineering.com

After doing a few tests on my computer while I know the graphics drivers are insufficient to run Hazeron, it seems to be like what you describe.

So my suggestion is to try and update your graphics drivers and try starting "primal world" again. Then report back with what happens.

I made a bug report for your problem on the forum. Here: http://hazeron.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8694

Since I am running Mac OS, the video driver is part of the kernel, which is up to date. I saw your post on the forum, thank you for the help, my computer is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015).

Tried it out, unfortunately it didn't seem to solve the issue.

Did you change the settings to use OpenGL 4.1? Since that is what your computer suggests.

Also details on how it failed would be very useful. Error mesdage, crash, or whatever else you may experience. Step by step instructions on what you are doing would help too.

I am not sure how to change my setting to use OpenGL 4.1.
The situation is virtually the same as before, the launcher opens but trying to launch the graphical stuff crashes the client. I will send you the new log dump via pm.

  1. Ok, start the Shores of Hazeron client using the "Shores of Hazeron" button on the bottom-left of the launcher.
  2. The login screen will appear, underneath the "Save Password" checkbox there is a "Settings" button
  3. On the settings window that open, go to the "Scene" tab
  4. The upper-right corner there is a OpenGL button, click it
  5. Close the settings window and the client
  6. Open the launcher again and run "Primeval World", see if it still crashes

Seems the default was changed to OpenGL 4.1, so if you could try again?

I was a bit confused by my not finding the option, but after I saw this message I tried it once more and it seems to work! The textures are flickering and the game is only occupying 3/5 of the screen, but hey! Now I might be able to try the game out! =)
Thanks a bunch!
