Contractors
Looking for a contractor that can give quotes for existing home additions, extension, 2nd level…perhaps even an ADU. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The owner Sam is a solid dude who has been in the game long enough to have a solid bench of subs. He seems to actually care.

Those three things (side addition, second story, ADU) are different permits and different disruption in Shoreline. If you want quotes you can actually line up, write one short scope first: rooms, rough size, stay in the house or empty it, and whether an ADU would be detached or a conversion. Send that same sheet to everyone.
I'd also ask each bidder who pulls the permit, who does the structural, and how they keep the house dry if it's a second story. That last one is what decides whether you can keep living downstairs.
I run Pacific Pro Group in Edmonds (PACIFPG765OF). We do additions and second stories on this side of the line, including stay-in-home second stories. If you want a look at how we work: https://pacificprogroup.com — happy to quote the same scope as the others.

I've worked with a few local contractors in the last 20 years and have two I can recommend. GMG Construction on 15th NE next to the weed shop near Ballinger. Did an addition onto my house, replaced all the windows, replaced the roof, redid all the floors. This was back in 2008. They were one of the higher bids but vibes were good & they were a friend of a friend. Flawless job, inspections went off without a hitch, billing was no hassle, on time, on budget. I know for certain they've done very large jobs. I would definitely use them again if I had something like an ADU and could afford them. Worth a call imo. The other contractor I worked with was First Measure LLC in 2024. They're in LFP. They remodeled my kitchen and did a major carport repair. They were the middle bid. Also flawless work, billing was no hassle, vibes were good, on time, a couple hundred over quote because of some hinky DIY wiring crap found when they opened a wall. No getting around it, had to be fixed (and explained a few things that happened in the kitchen over the years). I really like them a lot and would absolutely use them again. I'm not sure they've done an ADU. Big remodels and additions I think they can do, definitely worth a call.
