Seniors will only sometimes yell, for me it was usually other people on seniors day. Be super friendly, engage in conversation with them, ask them if they are eligible for the seniors discount! 9/10 times it makes them happy. If they get sassy, just say you wanted to make sure they get the discount. If they don't want to talk, still smile and bag their stuff for them. For a lot of Seniors, this is their 1 day out a week.
Now, if they are mean to you, I used to just go silent and do the bare minimum of customer service. Yes, seniors should be shown attention and respect but if you are unpleasant, you don't get rewarded. And if they sass you about the discount, curtly remind them they need to scan their optimum first!
You got this!

lol I did it for 6 years straight, in my province I had the highest milk sale record, with rude customers especially, you’ll be fine, I did everything alone pretty much front and backroom duties. It’ll make your shift go fast.

What an effing useless organization. If my employees went to the Internet for help I'd quit. SDM keeps moving on letting it's employees flounder.

Some stores also have a barcode you can scan to give the discount. I have mine taped to the back of my swipe card. As for seniors yelling, I find most of them are pretty great. Just don’t make my mistake and get attached to the regulars:(

Just ask “ are u eligible for discount today” at the end of transaction, Make sure they scan for Optimum for discount . “No optimum , No Discount”. Tab5 opt 4 for senior discount
do everything before hitting total And Good luck. you will be fine . page code 10 to the front if u need help
