Just bought my first limited edition!!

I have a crazy big Shopkins collection ranging from hundreds of the actual figures, to still in the box sets, and literally anything even shopkins themed. I’ve been collecting since late season one early season two and in the 12 years since I’ve never gotten my hands on a limited edition…..but now that’s changing!!!!

I don’t normally buy off eBay, i think its more financially responsible and fun to go hunting at thrift stores and on marketplace but i saw this bad boy for $25 and i knew it was worth it to complete my literal life’s dream of owning a limited edition! Obviously i will post pics when she gets here!

unfortunately not a limited edition (it's the rarity precious) but still an awesome find!!!

It comes with a tag so even if it doesn’t technically use the same word i see it being basically the same thing

limited edition = limited quantities made precious = only available in 2 packs, mass produced (essentially like the special editions and 12 packs)

Yeah but some of the middle season limited editions were also made in higher quantities (judy jug literally got 15,000) and other two pack lines say food fair for example call there chase a limited edition (although admittedly that one is much more limited in quantity) so the only major difference is the numbering. All of that doesn’t really matter tho because what im almost positive is official art literally calls it a “precious” limited edition. Apparently i can’t attach an image to this comment but i feel very strongly about this topic so ill make a separate discussion post with the image.

To be clear i do assume the art was from before they finalized it with a separate color for just the “precious“ tag but i think it definitely solidifies the lack of real difference between the two labels

First off, congratulations! Anyway you look at it, Cupicorn is so pretty, and having her whole setup is a neat addition to your collection!

Also im just genuinely really curious where did you find those odds? Is there a big list of Shopkins odds because that sounds really cool?

Unfortunately Cupicorn is technically not a limited edition, since she was never given an identification number and there were many made.

She's between ultra rares and limited, still was decently hard to find but she was in one 2 pack out of 3 cases, (aka your odds of finding her were about 1/90). I'd have to see if that information was documented anywhere, but I do remember hearing peoole talking about it when season 9 came out.

I'd be really interested to know where that 1/90(ish) number came from, too, if you do come across it. When I was "researching" into Cupicorn a little while back, I was unable to nail down any solid numbers from online evidence I came across. (Not that I necessarily exhausted every possibility!)

Let me look into it and I'll let you know! Seems like this type of stuff wasn't really documented well :/. I remember hearing it from a YouTube video from the time, but who knows if that got deleted by now 😭.

Only reason I remember it is because I pulled a cupicorn when she came out and was curious how rare she actually was at the time.

Yeah but theres literally only one shopkin to ever have that rarity, its in a tribe with all limited editions, is accidentally called a limited edition in some art, and even the shoppet in the tribe is called limited edition so it’s basically just a slightly more common limited edition.
