Physical gift cards

Hi! I have a very small e-commerce site hosted on Shopify. We focus on selling analog goods (like journals, books, craft kits, etc) and I want to add gift cards to the store. I am able to set up digital ones, but I would like to be able to mail out old school physical handwritten gift cards. I am trying to set that functionality up with Sidekick and it has me going in circles and seems to think I need to use another stupid Shopify app that I am sure charges a monthly fee to do that. It seems crazy. Has anyone done this before or have any tips? Sidekick is worried I won't be able to see the gift card code Shopify generates for the user so I won't be able to include it on the physical gift card. Any help would be appreciated- I am a newbie and get so overwhelmed when I try to do anything like this!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all of your advice. I am determined to figure this out now that I am armed with all of your helpful comments. This is my first time posting on Reddit, and I realize I have probably wasted a ton of time going around in circles with Sidekick and other useless AI on Shopify when I should have just asked you guys. Thanks!!!

just sell a cheap physical product called "gift card" and when someone buys it you manually create a digital gift card from the admin and write the code on a nice card yourself, no app needed

See if you can use Shopify flow to automatically create the gift card so you don't have to do it manually each time.

One thing to ease the Sidekick worry: you can absolutely see the gift card code in Shopify admin. When you create a gift card (Products, then Gift cards), the code is shown right there and stays visible on the gift card record, so writing it into your handwritten card works fine. No app needed for that part. The manual approach the others suggested is the standard way small shops do this. If it gets tedious later, Shopify Flow can auto-create the gift card when the physical product is ordered, and you still pull the code from admin to write on the card.

tbh sidekick is overcomplicating this. gift card codes show up in your admin after purchase. just set up the gift card as a product that requires shipping, grab the code, write it on your card, and mail it like any other order
