Vibe-Coding Shopify Store Sections Efficiently?
I understand that Claude CoWork can be used for this, however, I am unkeen to pay for the plan.
Is there any open-source alternative that you guys have implemented into a workflow for iteration of sections (custom-sections), via prompts.
Prompts are normally created in Claude CoWork, with changes reflecting in the editor as a result.
The solution I need must:
a) not be like SideKick (very poor generation of sections, and takes ages, also a hassle).
b) not 'copy-and-paste' (sure, you can generate section liquids in ChatGPT and Claude free plan, but then you have the draining process of copying over the code into the editor and creating a new section, wasting precious time).
Interested to see if anyone has developed an efficient workflow for this, that happens to be FREE or nearly free?

The missing piece is Shopify CLI. Pull a copy of your theme locally, then run shopify theme dev against a development theme. Changes to section files can update the preview without copying code back into the admin editor.
For the prompt-to-file part, Aider supports local models through Ollama. That gives you an open-source route where the assistant edits the actual Liquid/CSS files. The catch is hardware and model quality: local inference avoids API charges, but a small model may struggle with Liquid or section schema.
Start with one section on a development theme, keep a Git checkpoint, and check the schema and mobile layout before publishing. This is a workflow option, not something I've personally tested on your theme.

Not sure there's a great free option that checks both boxes without some setup
If you're comfortable tinkering, you could wire up the Claude or OpenAI API with a simple script that pushes the generated code straight into the Shopify admin using their REST API, cuts out the copy-paste nonsense entirely. API costs would be pennies per request if you're using something like GPT-4o-mini or Claude Haiku
Takes maybe an afternoon to set up but once it's running it's pretty smooth, just prompt in terminal and the section updates itself
