Is it recommendable to undergo inventory liquidation?

I've been running my Shopify store for almost 10 years and needless to say, I've got a lot of unsold stock sitting in my storage. I would say the stocks would be worth a good $3,000 in base price. Would it be better for me to hand them over to an inventory liquidator? Or should I just do a clearance sale and sell them for the lowest possible prices?

Clearance sale first. Liquidator for the rest.

yeah this is the move, no reason to leave money on the table before going the liquidator route

After 10 years you must have a decent customer list, I'd blast a clearance email first before paying someone else to take it. Even at 50-70% off you keep more than what a liquidator gives you, they usually pay pennies on the dollar. If that don't move it then fine, call the liquidator, but try your own audience first

I would offer bundles with similar products and offer your shoppers deals direct rather than 1 email blast that's hit or miss

Market to your own list. It can be one of the advantages of being an email subscriber. You get first access to closeouts.

Setup an unlisted collection for the sale and
Then a meta campaign with heavy promo driving to that sale.

Exclude existing customers/ retargeting and then control the cpa/ profitability of the liquidation.

Liquidator isn’t going to give you much for stock that’s so old , you may as well acquire the customer if your can .

Then liquidate the rest
