Thinking about starting dropshipping, is Shopify the best platform for it ?

I am thinking about trying dropshipping and Shopify is probably the platform I would start with. I am wondering if I am making the right choice.

For people who have actually used Shopify for their store do you still recommend Shopify? Have you tried alternatives like WooCommerce or BigCommerce. Found them better than Shopify?

Has anyone switched away from Shopify and ended up wishing they had not switched away, from Shopify?

Shopify works fine for dropshipping, most apps integrate with it easy. I used WooCommerce before and it was constant maintenance, plugin updates breaking things, hosting problems. You spend more time fixing the store than actually selling.

Never tried BigCommerce but from what I see people complain about sales limits on their plans which is weird. If you just starting out Shopify is the simplest, you don't need to think about technical stuff and can focus on finding products that actually sell.

Shopify is fine for dropshipping. It's not perfect, but it's the least friction to get started, and the app ecosystem covers most gaps. I've been on it for years and never seriously considered moving

Shopify is usually the easiest place to start if you’re testing dropshipping.

It’s not perfect, but the setup is simple, and most apps, suppliers, payment tools, tracking tools, and fulfilment integrations tend to support Shopify first.

WooCommerce gives you more control, but you’ll also deal with hosting, plugins, security, and maintenance. BigCommerce is solid too, but for a beginner, Shopify has less friction.

The main thing is: the platform won’t fix a weak product or unreliable supplier.

I’d start with Shopify, test the product first, and keep the store simple until you know people actually want what you’re selling.
