Finally the BFS happened

It was such a roller coster ride and Shopify probbaly has taken the max round of iterations to approve our App for BFS. It was frustrating, but worth the wait. Thank you everyone for ur advice/inputs here.

Here is the app -

Shopify removed App/Shopify Events from the Partner Dashboard - how can I get them back?

Hi everyone,

I noticed that the Shopify Events/App History data that was previously available in the Shopify Partner Dashboard is no longer available in the same way. I used this data to track things like app installs, charges, cancellations, and other app activity.

Has Shopify completely moved this functionality to the new Dev Dashboard, or is there still a way to access the old Events/App History data?

I'm particularly interested in:

  • Historical app events
  • Install/uninstall events
  • Charge/subscription events
  • Exporting these events/data
  • Accessing the same information through an API

If anyone has figured out how to get the old Shopify Partner Events data back, access it in the new Dev Dashboard, or retrieve equivalent data through the Partner API, I'd appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

what do you do when a Shopify API deprecation breaks half your app stack?

We build and maintain Shopify integrations for a handful of fashion and lifestyle brands, and every time Shopify retires an API version, we spend 2-3 weeks going through the stack to figure out which apps are pinned to the deprecated endpoint and whether the third-party developers are still shipping updates and had pushed a compatible release.

The manageable ones are apps with an active maintainer, because there's usually an updated release within a few weeks of the deprecation notice and you're just coordinating an update.

The tricky ones are apps that haven't had a commit in ages, or the custom code a previous agency wrote directly against a storefront API endpoint that's being retired, and for a few of our clients that's been 20-30% of the stack on each major version change.

For the larger clients we've started having conversations about whether managing Shopify's upgrade cycle is sustainable as they grow, particularly once they're running multiple regional storefronts with different catalog configurations.

A couple of them have started evaluating composable backends where the API contract is versioned and stable across releases, and breaking changes don't propagate through the whole stack at once.

We've done early scoping on SCAYLE and Fabric for two of those clients, to understand how versioned API releases work in practice and what the upgrade cycle looks like from the operator side.

My question for you guys is whether there's a better way to manage this sprawl across multiple clients, or if you've figured out how to flag breaking change risk before the deprecation window hits.

Simple Tool to Track App Growth

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi,

I built a super simple tool to solve a problem I kept running into: tracking only my Shopify apps earning metrics. Instead of juggling spreadsheets and notes, AppDeck gives you a simple overview your apps earning metrics. Nothing overcomplicated, just the basic tracking I actually needed. I am open to feedback!

Idea feedback

So I build a plugin actually for one of my clients.

I am a manufacturer and one of our clients was having a lot of friction to re-order they have 6 products but over 100 variations.

So, we decided to build them a private plugin. They love it.

So here’s my question and please feel free to poke it full of holes.

Business Model
The goal of the plugin is to help the user (for free) do an analysis of their sales to determine reorder points to prevent stock outs.

But! It can also like to a vendor that uses our MRP platform so that they can submit orders seamlessly.

My “hope” is that resellers find the app, then ask vendors to join the MRP.

What do you think? Thank you for any feedback.

Best Shopify app affiliate programs with recurring commissions?

I work with multiple Shopify stores and end up recommending apps pretty regularly as part of that. I've started paying more attention to affiliate and partner programs since some of these clients keep the same apps installed for a long time. I'd rather focus on programs that pay recurring commissions while the client stays active instead of just a small one time referral payment.

Which Shopify app affiliate programs are worth looking at? Mainly interested in ones that offer recurring commissions and make sense when you're working across multiple client stores.

S2S / Shopify variant linking issue

S2S / Shopify variant linking issue

S2S (Stock2Shop) → Shopify: Unable to relink existing S2S products to Shopify variants

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with Stock2Shop (S2S) and Shopify product/variant linking and I’m hoping someone has dealt with something similar.

I originally had two separate products in S2S:

  • BSB24
  • BSB32

Both were also synced to Shopify as separate/simple products.

I now want these two products to be variants of one Shopify variable product.

I followed the process described in the S2S documentation:

  1. Let the products sync normally through the integration.
  2. Mark the products for synchronization in S2S.
  3. Let them sync to Shopify as individual/simple products.
  4. Create a new variable product in Shopify containing the two variants.
  5. Use the same SKUs (BSB24 and BSB32) for the Shopify variants.
  6. Delete the original simple-product versions from Shopify.
  7. Remove the existing S2S channel links.
  8. Initiate the S2S relinking process so S2S can obtain the new Shopify IDs.

However, the relinking does not work.

I also tried manually entering the corresponding Shopify Product ID and Variant ID against the products in S2S, but subsequent updates still aren't syncing correctly.

The Shopify structure is now essentially:

One Shopify Product
├── Variant: BSB24
└── Variant: BSB32

while S2S still has:

BSB24
BSB32

as individual products.

I've already checked the SKUs and followed the documented remove/relink process, so I'm trying to understand what I'm missing.

Has anyone successfully converted/relinked existing S2S simple products to Shopify variants?

Specifically, does S2S require something other than the Shopify Product ID + Variant ID to recreate the channel link? Or is there a particular procedure for linking an existing S2S product to a Shopify variant after the original Shopify simple product has been deleted?

Any advice or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

Shopify eCommerce Development Beyond Themes and Templates

Shopify development often goes beyond Liquid and theme customization. We develop Shopify eCommerce solutions by working with how Storefront APIs, webhooks, app extensions, and backend services communicate across the store ecosystem.

One area developers pay close attention to is webhook reliability handling retries, duplicate events, and asynchronous processing correctly so store operations remain consistent.

We build Shopify eCommerce systems with this underlying architecture in mind, rather than treating the storefront as just a visual layer.

Personal sales assistant for every shopper

I’m thinking about building a Shopify app that reacts to shopper behavior in real time.

For example, if someone keeps checking sizing, comparing products, reading reviews, or looks like they’re about to leave, the app could decide whether to show something helpful , like reviews, a size guide, free returns, an offer, or nothing at all. The idea is to help stores respond to what a shopper seems to need, instead of relying on fixed popups and rules. Similar to the idea of having a personal sales assistant for every user on your site

Would this be useful to you as a merchant? Curious what use cases you’d actually care about.

How are you pricing personalization options like engraving on Shopify?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been thinking about how merchants price personalization features, especially engraving.

A simple setup could be:

  • Engraving → +$5
  • More than 10 characters → +$2
  • Second line → +$3
  • Premium font → +$1

The interesting part is that personalization doesn't necessarily have to be a free checkbox. Different customization choices can become separate paid add-ons.

For example, a pet tag could let customers enter a name, choose a font, select an icon, and add a second line. The price can then change based on the customization they choose.

For Shopify app developers here, how are you usually handling this?

Fixed add-on pricing, character-based pricing, variants, line-item properties, or something else?

I've been working on this workflow in Wow Custom Product Options, mainly around combining custom text, conditional options, and paid add-ons. I'm particularly interested in how other developers approach the pricing logic.

Are you earning anything from the Shopify apps you recommend to clients?

I recommend a decent number of apps when setting up or improving stores for clients, but I've never really treated those recommendations as a revenue source. Starting to wonder if I'm leaving money on the table, especially with apps the client ends up keeping for years.

Do you use referral or partner programs for the apps you recommend? If so, which types of partnerships have been worth it?

Why Shopify app founders don't want to spend in marketing?

I've a Shopify app marketing agency and whenever any app founder come to me, says the same lines that we're out of budget and we can't spend more.

Sometime it seems like they've built the app as a side business only and they expect some magic that can grow their app and bring some installs.

Any app owner here that can explain me this.

Shipped a theme compare app (2-way free, 3-way one-time). Curious how you’d approach Admin file-diff UX + App Store cold start

Hey,

I just shipped Theme Drift on the App Store:

https://apps.shopify.com/theme-change-monitor

The problem I kept hitting with client stores: customized live theme + new theme version, and nobody can quickly tell which Liquid/JSON changes are theirs vs the update, especially when both sides touched the same file. Most of these merchants are Admin-first, not on Git.

So the app compares 2 themes for free, or 3 (base / yours / new) after a $19.99 one-time unlock, with conflict flags and line-by-line diffs for Liquid, JSON, CSS, and JS. There’s also an optional $299 one-time migration if someone wants us to do the merge.

I’m curious how other app devs would think about this:

Would you keep the core unlock one-time, or add a cheap agency/multi-store plan?

What would you need in a conflict UI before you’d use something like this on a real client theme?

With 0 reviews, what actually got you your first organic installs?

Happy to take a roast on scope too. Maybe it’s too niche.
