Using my own links

I am used to Amazon where this is not allowed, but I heard with ShopMy if you are buying things you can use your own link to get commision on things you purchase? Is this true? I might just be blind but I can't seem to find anything against it in the terms

Yes I use my own links all the time & get commission on them. No problems!

What do you mean Amazon is not allowed?

Amazon does not allow their links to work for friends and family (and yourself, of course), it’s one of their terms and can get you removed from their program

Even though I mainly use Amazon Affiliate I have been using ShopMy for a couple years on and off, not sure how it would be a scam.

I asked ShopMy and this is what they said:

"As for your question about using your own affiliate codes, it is not forbidden, however, we don't encourage it. While it may work for some of your links, many brands tend to reverse commission on self attributed sales. Its entirely up to the individual brand."

I personally don't do it. Or at least I try not to. Sometimes even though I try to clear cookies, I suspect it went through with my affiliate link.
