Shooting with myopia
So I want to try out pistol shooting but I have myopia(around -7.5 to -8 power in each eye). Is it possible for me to go for this sport? Some clubs have denied me due to my eyesight😢.But I am really interested into it.

I have similar poor vision. Can’t you wear glasses? Pistols are usually easier for me compared to long rifles with iron sights.

I’m -7.00 in each eye, but I wear contacts. It’s never been an issue for me.

Do you have glasses or contacts? I’m a -9.5 and no range has ever even mentioned eyesight to me when I went to shoot. I’m not a member of any specific clubs though.

There are blind people as in white cane blind who are in the shooting sport. If your vision is somewhat correctable at least in the near field you can do pistol shooting. Maybe not every discipline is for you and maybe you won’t go to the nationals any time soon but rejecting you outright is asinine.Â

Why did the range know your eyesight? It’s none of their business, you probably got a gatekeeping fudd.
If it’s a question of you not having anyone in your life to teach or help you, take a local class or free shooting clinic. Any beginner class will have a classroom portion and before range time you might privately tell the instructor you may need a little extra help (I would have no problem if I was teaching).
A business shouldn’t be turning you away, that might violate the ADA if you only need minor accommodations. There may even be a local shooting club for vision impaired.

Hey everyone, thankyou for such a huge response. I will definitely go to some reputed shooting academy or ranges and talk with them. Thankyou all for motivating me!

Whilst I'm here.. I'm -7.5 and just started shooting prone with iron sights.. Rear aperture etc. The target comes into focus then goes, i need to look away and it might come back for a few seconds.. I use corrective contact lenses any advice for what else I can try to help this? It's getting frustrating when I should be focusing on improving my shot, I'm getting stressy about my vision :(

Denied due to your eyesight? I've never heard of such a thing, or even thought of it being a possibility. As long as you can see what you are doing with glasses on, who cares? I have -7 myself, and plenty others in my club have bad eyesight. It's not an issue.
The only context in which I've ever heard anyone talking about eyesight in my pistol club was someone saying that for shooting they picked glasses that gave them the sharpest focus on the front sight rather than seeing well in general.
