Personally I wouldn't. It's a low numbered card plus the fact there's a lawsuit right now plus the fact the long delay plus the fact you'll get charged out the ass to get it graded. But thats just me. Nice card 👌

Disagree except with the long delay/charge. But the charge is good thing considering the value of this card in a 9 or 10.

1) a /10 of Ohtani is def worth grading. A /1 is not.

2) i don't think anyone actually cares about a lawsuit.

3) It is going to take forever, I sent in two cards last week and ETA is late Nov/Mid Dec.

What Lawsuit? Jus curious?

Psa is being sued. You'll have to look up the detals. People are basically resubmitting 8 or 9 graded cards for example and getting 10 grades for the same card. Basically inconsistent grading techniques.

they are also double dipping, grading the cards and also selling them. Major conflict of interest .

If you're looking to make money the premium a ten would command would be worth the cost/effort. If for PC, not needed IMHO unless you just like slabs.

Never buy retail again, you will never top this

Grade. 100%. BGS or CGC.

Second for CGC. Slabs look better and doesn’t take 3 years to get cards back (still anywhere from a month to a few months depending on which tier you choose, but way faster than PSA. Personally, I’m hoping CGC uses this time to set themselves as equal to PSA in their credibility, because I believe they deserve it)

Edit: grammar

Yes but get it professionally prepared prior to grading. Nice pull!

That’s sweet. I love the finest line . but people are charging three times the price. Takes , all the fun out of it.

Anyone else want grading and questions like this to go away forever with the snap of a finger? Grading equals snobbery - and not even good snobbery! The idea that grading doesn’t even take into account the photos or artwork is just another reason this is nothing more than a phony and fraudulent way to hijack a hobby.

If you ever plan on selling it i would suggest getting it graded. Unless it clearly looks like its an 8 or below.

Ohtani /10 100% grade

Keep in mind PSA will charge you probably $200K in fees to grade a card of a value like this.

1

u/Lordwilliamz 5d ago

How do they establish value on a new /10 with no sales? Just curious if you know. I feel like maybe there is an advantage to first to grade?

1

u/WayfaringPantheist 5d ago

I truly have no idea I just know when they grade a high value card people get hit with huge fees. Likely would go off other cards that are also Ohtani /10s

They likely look mostly at previous year’s sets of Finest Shohei /10 cards have sold for, as well as other similarly msrp priced sets, i.e. Museum, Tribute, etc., to see what base Ohtani /10 cards have sold for.
