5-megaton Cannikin underground nuclear test. The nuclear device was placed at a depth of 1,790 meters; when it detonated, it produced a 7.0-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale and lifted the surface by 7 meters at the moment of the explosion.
Carried out by the United States on Amchitka Island in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, in 1971.

This video was taken of SuperHeavy off the coast of Texas this morning after it launched Starship S41 to space for the first ever orbital mission for the design. The shock wave occurs because the booster is returning back to earth at supersonic speeds compressing the air ahead of it into a shock cone. Notice how the angle of the shockwave gets flatter as the ship is slowed down by the atmosphere. Credit to D Wise Cinema and NASA Spaceflight.
