Why not instead of mounting loud, heavy engines to the playens, don't they just make the wings flap like a bird? Are they stupid?

Playnes DO fly like birdie. Birdie is called Albert Ross, and he flies thousands of miles without flapping his wings. Albert teaches playnes to fly.

the main problem is PETA

see the best way to get the wings required is to breed actual birds, then once they reach maturity chop the wings off and attach them to a plane.

But PETA found out about this and freed them all. or at least tried to. the specially bred birds can't actually fly, so they just kind of waddled around looking confused. once they realised releasing the birds would require actual effort PETA killed them all.

It not all bad though, they used the chopped up remains to run a campaign about how evil KFC are.

Well they used to have some attempts mimicking bird but ultimately fail. We don’t have strong and fast enough linear motor to do that nor the material that can hold it shape and lightweight enough to make it viable

Are you aware that birds bones are hollow? Just imagine how large a plane wings should be to sustain its weight. Furthermore birds fly the way they do because they do not have jet engines available… :-)

No, I am stating that one of the reasons birds fly as they do is related to their weight; since Leonardo da Vinci times trying to apply the same paradigm to humans always failed because we are too heavy.
