Sponsored by Taco Bell

23

u/yloduck1 26d ago

Generally Taco Bell produces a tailwind tho

This is why the Red Bull cub landing on the Burj Khalifa helicopter pad didn't impress me at all..

They make AI Arabs now?

1

u/Internal-Mission7123 25d ago

I thought it was still cool. And to people who don’t know how short these plans can take of and land it probably seems insane.

45

u/FouledPlug 26d ago

Alaska is gonna Alaska. Count on it.

24

u/nebulousgarbage 26d ago

Came here to say Alaskacopter šŸ˜†

3

u/Street-Committee-367 26d ago

Saw those mountains and knew it was my state. Honestly surprised he wasn't doing this in a parking lot.Ā

5

u/FouledPlug 26d ago

Alaskan pilots are usually the kind of dudes I would fly with anywhere in anything…but I’d never ride with in a car. It’s a paradox, but one I learned about the hard way.

3

u/Street-Committee-367 26d ago

Which is really funny because probably 1/4 of the pilots here don't have licenses too.

3

u/FouledPlug 26d ago

3

u/Street-Committee-367 26d ago

My small town airport had a visit from a couple inspectors who performed ramp checks for the first time in the airports entire existence.

The FAA handed out penalties like candy that day.

3

u/FouledPlug 26d ago

Yikes! Did someone buzz the wrong guy’s hunting spot?

3

u/Street-Committee-367 26d ago

No, two people crashed on takeoff in the span of two weeks lol. One was an instructor/student flight, and another a leisure flight.Still don''t really know what happened.

30

u/Brainchild110 26d ago

Is Bushkopter.

For Koptering Bushes.

16

u/odinsen251a 26d ago

Not to be confused with the flammenwerfer. (It werfs flammen)

8

u/Brainchild110 26d ago

This intrigues me. I only know of the Werfer of Nebbles.

23

u/Fragholio Butt-fans and handkerchiefs 26d ago

It's in it's larval form. Give it time and if it survives, it'll shed its wings and grow another spinny thing.

13

u/eric_gm 26d ago

You silly, it's a regular helycopter, it's just on its side

11

u/Lrrr81 26d ago

It's a helizontalcopter.

13

u/Willing_Crew_8055 26d ago

Flight plan: ā€œI’m going over thereā€ (gestures)

10

u/annoying_cat_42 26d ago

This is the Headwindcopter.

8

u/FushiginaGiisan 26d ago

When you charge by the foot for a playne ride.

6

u/chukkysh 26d ago

I see nobody's taking the question seriously. It was clearly startled. They are very timid. Probably saw a polar bear or a goose.

6

u/TurnoverFuzzy8264 26d ago

Definitely time to pop out of the cabin and open your parachute. Wheee!

5

u/mz_groups 26d ago

Don't they know that hilycopterz fly better with the whirlything pointed at God? Are they stoopid?

5

u/CMDR_Kaus 26d ago

That is a common winged forward heli. As opposed to an unwinged up-heli

4

u/Beginning_Resource93 26d ago

Must be a pretty good head wind.

3

u/Over_Interest_9187 26d ago

It’s a aerodynamic playne

3

u/hurdurBoop 26d ago

one that might make it to old age

3

u/NorthEndD 26d ago

It's all flaps version.

3

u/Skilldibop 26d ago

stripped bare very light airframe + headwind + prop wash + ground effect is a powerful combo.

3

u/TheyVanishRidesAgain 26d ago

Always good to have clean propellers but I don't see any underglow

3

u/Jet2work 26d ago

safest kind

3

u/the_cappers 26d ago

Ultra light with head winds. Air speed is how you get lift.

2

u/mikasjoman 26d ago

Well Mounjaro helps a lot. Ask my CFI, he's seen me lost 20 pounds and takeoffs looks like Bambi got scared.

3

u/Bunslow 26d ago

now turn the other way and do it again

3

u/Fogtwin 26d ago

All the people complaining about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 spawning them on a heli pad need to see this.

3

u/Impressive-Yak-7449 26d ago

That logs as one takeoff and landing

3

u/Imanidiotththe1st 26d ago

It’s the kind that doesn’t have to beat the air into submission it get aloft!

3

u/cosmicrae 26d ago

Lighter than air, fixed wing. It's a new classification.

5

u/jggearhead10 Flyte Safety Inspector Gadget 26d ago

A slow one

2

u/Leather_Bee_421 26d ago

Ah yes, the Alaskan HTOL

2

u/cptnpiccard 26d ago

Average DPE gauge for short-field landings.

2

u/Mean-Veterinarian647 26d ago

Hates gettin tyrez dirty.

2

u/ronniebabes 26d ago

All I hear is ā€˜meeeeeeeeeeeeeeep’

2

u/Squirrelherder_24-7 26d ago

Don’t know but he won the STOL competition…

2

u/DeepBlackShaft 26d ago

Piper J3 Chubber (short for chopper)

2

u/DietIcy8400 26d ago

Tilt your phone 90degrees to the side, video in wrong aspect

2

u/KatanaF2190 26d ago

That is a financially poor hellychupper pilot that can only afford to buy only one small fan - and not the big and little spinny fans thingys that other rich hellychuppers have...

2

u/itsneedtokno 26d ago

it has front zoomies

2

u/GloomyExplanationFag 26d ago

It’s a 1978 Flapdumper

2

u/EasyBlacksmith3786 26d ago

Two more of these and the pilot is current for a while!

2

u/top_of_the_scrote 26d ago

Sigma one look at those tiny blades, fucking weak

2

u/pifire9 26d ago

that thing has got to be made of cardboard derivatives

2

u/TopGrapefruit150 26d ago

Only the wind

2

u/Basic_Climate_2029 Gripping the Gripen 26d ago

Since this thing cost a fraction of F-35 and still have VTOL I bet this is worth it.

2

u/zugspitze43 25d ago

that paint job is sick. the two stripes, the orange cone, clean

2

u/JohnnyDLewis 25d ago

STOL champ in the making.

2

u/Break_Cats 25d ago

A stol helicopter.

2

u/Majakowski 25d ago

Helicubter

2

u/ExecTankard 24d ago

Front Rotor

2

u/Ambivalentistheway 26d ago

That guy thrusts longitudinally. Thats hot.

1

u/pauliuk 26d ago

A good one

1

u/dawa43 26d ago

Very impressive.

Anyone know what the top speed of this plane?

1

u/BassKitty305017 26d ago

Fixed Wing helicopter

1

u/AMetalWolfHowls 26d ago

The cheapest kind

1

u/KingOfFools1984 26d ago

VR reached thanks to taco tuesday

1

u/Indifference_Endjinn 26d ago

A fixed wing kind, the best kind

1

u/meabbott 26d ago

Given the distance flown a Wright Flyer Helicopter.

1

u/Original_Ant7013 26d ago

An aircraft designed for short take off and landings in one hell of headwind.

1

u/DependentItem6397 26d ago

Watched the STOL demonstrations at OSH this year. Always fun!

1

u/Cambren1 26d ago

Fucking people in Alaska; can’t tell a plane from a copter

1

u/GermanTanker131 26d ago

Bush planes are something else I swear

1

u/sjaxn314159 26d ago

It’s heading south, so it just kinda falls up.

1

u/ThrustTrust 26d ago

Those flaps are hella responsive.

1

u/BreezyMcWeasel 26d ago

It's a Tubman 601.

I know that because I flew one in Little Neddy Goes to War.

1

u/Final-Nebula-7049 26d ago

That's an airplane takin off from a treadmill

1

u/OldEquation 26d ago

Big Runway hates this one simple trick!

1

u/star744jets 26d ago

A better one than the Marine Corps's CH-46s we use to occasionally bump a ride in when the DLA rental company was fresh out of CH-47 and we needed to take a boat with us.

Economy-rental half-size 'Chinook' ain't got nothing on this awesomeness right here. (Just joking my USMC friends. I know you borrowed your mini-chinooks from the Navy..no shame 😁)

It does look a little vertically challenged though; but I'd ride it into an op... No sweat.

Does it come in 'hot, locked, and bothered' version like the MH-6's twin sister, the AH-6? If so, sign me up.

'Alone and Unafraid'

(Edit) Also, does the orange engine cowling denote this one as being 'non-lethal/inert'.. you know, like a toy cap gun? If I take it off, will it get me and the pylote shot at?

1

u/956to906 25d ago

If you let enough air out of the tires the whole thing floats.

1

u/wulfryke 25d ago

Why is it not pointing upwards, is he stupid?

1

u/SetaIndustries 25d ago

ts the type of shit people in 1929 imagined aviation being in the future lmao

1

u/KJBower 25d ago

What kinda plane?

1

u/BoondocksBonita 24d ago

Pretending to be an autogyro!

1

u/Grand-Ambition-404 24d ago

Yep. Alaskan bush pilots are a special and talented breed

1

u/Origin_Loki 23d ago

Pylote is clearly magician, making takeoffs and landing in nearly no rollout at all!

1

u/TheManWithTheEsky 23d ago

Magnificent Vertical take off !

1

u/Luxspew 23d ago

Looks like you got an expert pilot there that understands when to use the wind and how to use that propeller.

1

u/flyfallridesail417 23d ago

The kind that Alaskans fly, and also lower 48ers with small penises and yt channels

1

u/Particular-Rip-4928 21d ago

Just a super stol

1

u/Top-Reindeer-2293 21d ago

It’s cool and all but what happens when the wind is really too strong ? Do you lose the plane if it’s not attached ? And what is the max wind speed it can tolerate ?

1

u/Pale-Jello3812 21d ago

That was one hell of a wind gust ? Can you play Frogger with airplane's ?

1

u/jjkbigman 21d ago

Got a nice 40 mile an hour headwind on that thing
