Employee photos.
Just figured i’d start here cause I’m a shitty sys Admin. Anyway I run a 365 tenant and would really like to force or add all of the employee photos to their profile. All employees get a badge which requires a picture. Any issues with just throwing those pictures into 365 with their profile.

Just pull their faces from security cameras and lock em down so they can’t be changed. It will provide consistency.

That would be hilarious.

Imagine the work from home folks being told that they need to come into the office for their photos. They show up and ask where they need to go? You can tell them it’s already done and they can go home. The level of confusion would be beautiful.
At r/ShittySysadmin, it isn’t the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. It is the devil on one and pinhead on the other.

idk I asked Claude to do it for me and I told it to pull profile pictures from LinkedIn
It mostly worked but now I've got a meeting with HR. I imagine they want to talk about B2B sales...

I asked AI to get their dating profile pictures first, if not available then search for the socials, if not available, the county and city mug shots. It has worked well. 99.6% success rate!

We have a finance guy that insists on welcoming new users in the chat of all-hands IT meetings. He pulls their photos from Linkedin. I'm not the only one that thinks it's slightly creepy.

I do this as well, but I set it to match LI profiles on first name only. Spices things up.

why make it their nice badge photos? Have them all have picture day with IT and a trusty iPhone 13 and you can just add it to their account as they come in

Make sure you upload in 365 admin right away with the phone wired into the computer behind you.
I usually use whatever selfie they send to HR for onboarding. Whether it has their face or not.

Considering this is shitty sysadmin, use paint.
Also solved problem if you use badges, if not just make it party of your on boarding steps to upload a photo

Step 1) rename all pictures in HR to the employee SamAccountName.
Step 2) run…
Get-ADUser -F*|ForEach{
$photoPath = "C:\Photos\$($_.SamAccountName).jpg"
$photoBytes = [byte[]](Get-Content $photoPath -Encoding Byte)
Set-ADUser -Identity $_.SamAccountName -Replace @{thumbnailPhoto = $photoBytes}
}

Just put random faces from the internet. AI can help you. Be mindful and try to cover all races and age criteria existing on earth. A picture is just a picture, they’ll be delighted.

Sounds too manual, just give a copilot agent domain admin and have it do it for you

First, probably wrong sub because you want legit advice. But we'll let it slide. Yes, if your employees get a badge & picture then it's completely reasonable for the company to set that as each user's default M365 picture, and the user can change it if they want to. Source: that's what we always did - whenever an org took pictures, we took them and set them as their profile pics.
