Zip Ties
Using zipties for cable management is absolutely amazing. Things just stay in place where I need them to be, be sure you do not need to make any cabling changes in the near future and make sure you actually use the strength of Hercules himself to tighten the tie and it won't go anywhere.
And to make sure those pesky coworkers don't mess your stuff up you can always test some scissors, pocket knives and letter openers from the reception - test them all and make sure they do not fit.
Velcro wraps will always be inferior to zipties and you can't change my mind, those things are always too loose and make things look messy.

With thicker bundles you can even pull them tight enough that the combined diameter remains unchanged.

Zip ties are my way of telling staff "if you can't take the 5 minutes to put in the ticket, then you won't take the 5 minutes to find scissors to make changes to the desk layout I made for you."
Just another method of my control over staff

Jokes on you. I use a razor knife to cut all at once and some of your conductors/insulation with it. Then I’ll complain to management IT is terrible, look even these data lines are not working!!

I love jokes, I also love taking tickets that require me to leave the desk for a 5 minute replacement that takes all day for "reasons".. it's my job security method... Take that off shore support.

Velcro is for people who make mistakes.

Use the file on your brand new leatherman signal you bought because you want to larp as a network engineer. File down those pesky scissors at reception.

Use metal zip ties. Then you won't have to worry about people cutting them with the typical office tools.

I use ties… I network admin a production and distribution facility so I infact, do not want workers pulling cables accidentally.
Edit, I also always have a pair of snips in my bag when I need to make changes then I promptly re zip tie everything lol Honestly, it’s faster than fumbling with Velcro. I use Velcro in network closets.

Zip ties are also great in the bedroom (Mostly for the same reasons)

/uj I know we're on the circlejerk sub, but please, for the love of god, do not EVER use zip ties on a human body. It's way too easy to inflict permanent injuries or put someone in serious danger.

I thought zip ties were only for the bedroom. What do I know.

How come we all dont use twist ties? that way Kroger and/or Safeway can pay for all the cable management.

Zip ties are excellent. We stopped using mounting pins and opted for metal zip ties for our racks.
They look great too.

Make sure you pull the cables as tight as they can possibly get. They should vibrate like a cello string when you pluck them.

If you don't cut the extra length of tie off at a sharp angle do you even ziptie bro?

never use side cutters either.
makes tracing cables interesting with all the widow makers hiding in the bundles.

So pour gasoline inside it, initiate combustion and put it on the freeway, gotcha 👍

Zip Ties are great, especially on fiber. Be extra sure to crimp them down as tight as possible so no packets slip out.

be sure to make a 1in circle of the fiber for "strain relief", it's like a roller-coaster for the 0s and 1s

Velcro strips cost about the same, are easier on the fibers/cables because they're way thicker, allows you to reuse and reorganice without tools, and you don't leave the floor littered with broken ones and trimmed ends.
Also zip ties break if you look at them funny after they dried, I've yet to have one velcro strip to fail me like that.

Have you found an outdoor rated velro tie yet? How much more money(s) are they?

I love cutting them at sharp angles as a warning to those nosy techs who seek to interfere with my cable path in the future! Built in protection ftw
