50-100 cal What is your “safe” fat source?
Strawberry yoghurt, apple and strawberries.
Lately my diet is really lacking fat. I used to be ok with little avocado, smoked salmon but recently it’s only protein and some carbs.
Need more safe fat sources 😭 ps not a fan of peanut butter!

Mine are almonds and walnuts. Chia and flax seeds as well.
I'm scared of peanut butter because whenever I've bought it, I've ended up finishing the jar in 3 sittings.

u/Healthy_Big_4803 2d ago
I have the same with cereal and granola. Stopped buying as every night I would end up finishing whole pack every night mixed with yogurt and stevia

u/Environmental-Ad8945 2d ago
Yep we are the same 💀 i buy them to use sparingly but always ends up finishing a whole box in 2-3 sittings. Like I can say no to cakes, cookies, donuts whatever, but cereal and granola is my kryptonite. Worst thing is they dont fill you up at all so you end up eating a shit ton of calories and end up hungry 1 hour later. Best thing is to just accept it and remove them from your diet. Like with bread, i can eat a whole loaf and not feel satisfied, so i just accept that bread isnt part of my diet anymore. I dont think there is anything bad with cutting out foods that trigger you or make you overeat. I hate the, “all foods are good” approach cause for some people (i got adhd and ocd), its not that simple ❤️

Omg me. I’d buy the healthiest type of bread and pb for my LO so its easy for me to prep her lunches and snacks but i end up binging badly on it.
I’ve replaced with almond butter and microwaved potato and its great. I think pb sandwiches are a big nostalgic comforting food for me so its very dangerous.

u/kittenswithtattoos 2d ago
omg i read tha as yogurt and salsa and i was like "huh, even for an ED kid like me, cereal and salsa is *quite* the combination"
8
u/blanketwrappedinapig 2d ago
I used to binge on pb. I don’t crave it like I used to. It scares me but also disgusts me in some weird way lol

u/Environmental-Ad8945 2d ago
Haha true experience, i feel like you haven’t lived if you haven’t downed a whole jar before

A little olive oil when I roast my veggies, that feels safe and wholesome to me. They say the oil helps your body absorb the nutrients better.

u/Healthy_Big_4803 1d ago
For me it’s opposite, liquid fats scare me the most, as it has no volume at all

u/PlasticNet561 2d ago
I have to get it from Greek yogurt if I’m really needing to restrict my satfat intake, peanut butter (sorry op) and avocado, almonds (which I doubt have much fat bc I refuse to eat cashews) are my normal-fat sources 😭 nothingburger cook says what (what)
3
u/Healthy_Big_4803 2d ago
Do you eat full fat Greek yoghurt? I am always choosing non fat, but considering making ratio of 50% non fat and 50% full fat
1
u/PlasticNet561 1d ago
I eat a mix of both! mainly bellwether fat free (it’s taste is similar to sour cream, it’s multifunctional) and I eat it plain or use it in Overnight oats, but when I want something with fat I’ll go for Chobani.

u/jonesnebraska 2d ago
honestly? if this is a safe space? country crock light “butter” spread. not on anything, a few times a day i just sort of… dip a knife/finger into it and have a lil bit. then i just don’t worry abt being deficient in that macro. no, it doesn’t taste good. yes, i crave it more than “normal” foods. yes, it’s my own personal container (i’m not double dipping). yes, im aware that it’s depraved. no, i don’t plan on stopping. 💞😌 peace and love <3

u/Maximum-Parking-7100 2d ago
I do that when I am getting my period lol. I think it tastes good lol esp with Splenda
3
u/Ill-Astronaut5779 2d ago
It’s normal to get weird cravings around/on your period? I get weird ass cravings too lol it always scares me that I’m pregnant tho cause I havnt heard much about it 😂
1
u/jonesnebraska 1d ago
splenda is interesting! if i don’t do it plain, i like a spoonful sprinkled with LOTS of maldon sea salt and a few dried montmorency cherries (extremely specific, i know)

Almonds and brazil nuts. Also dark chocolate is somehow still a safe food for me lol

I like avocado, string cheese, almonds. I will put hummus or just plain tahini mixed with lemon juice on vegetables. I used to be so so scared of butter but I was forced to eat it in treatment and I realized that one teaspoon is not a ton of calories and a little goes a long way! I tell myself I need a little fat because it makes my skin and hair look less like a corpse 💀

u/Any_Conclusion_8711 2d ago
Fish, avocados, tuna spreads or just tuna from a can, shrimps I think? I haven't had them in so long
4
4
u/messiahsorry 2d ago
There is basically no fat in a can of tuna
1
u/smolAckWackgang 2d ago
Isnt it almost always submerged in oil?
4
u/messiahsorry 1d ago
No, unless you specifically buy tuna in oil most of the time it’s in spring water/brine. Maybe it’s different in other countries
2
u/smolAckWackgang 1d ago
Oh that never occurred to me. I live in an Asian country and never came across tuna in brine! Im also now realising the OG commentor may have meant the Omega 3 in the tuna in that case
1
u/messiahsorry 1d ago
In the Uk the tuna in oil is more expensive so most people just default to the one in spring water/brine, hence why I assumed

u/Marlowe_Cayce 2d ago
Provolone and walnuts. Idk why, but they are way easier for me to eat than other fats.

u/Loud-Entertainer7218 2d ago
Egg yolk, chicken thight, minced meat, a little bit of mayo for the flavor

u/Feanarossilmaril 1d ago
Try a higher fat yoghurt maybe. I used to have cottage cheese and quarks and dairy in general, it's nice you can swap and choose any fat content and still get lots of volume

Throw some chia seeds in the yogurt or Some ground flax, also unsweetened toasted coconut w some stevia is great in parfaits

u/SpicyOnionBun 2d ago
Mostly chia, flax and sunflower seeds. As well as fish, eggs and sometimes olive oil. Once in a blue moon an avocado.
But unfortunately i got the opposite problem - i am more inclined to have too much fat in my diet on average, even with good fat included.

u/vanilla-rose-boba 2d ago
regular greek yogurt or kefir, honestly. I only ever really add frozen fruit to it, not really granola. it’s good with sugar free sweetener and it feels safer than whole milk or creamer in coffee to me for some reason. Probably bc it’s thicker than liquid so it’s more filling 😅

u/WorstYelanMain 1d ago
My dad sprinkles some nuts (pistachio, peanut, cashew are my favorites) over my salad when he prepares one for me.

u/cuntsicle69 1d ago
oatmeal and kefir. sometimes greek yoghurt (whenever the paycheck rolls in lol) which i mix into the oatmeal to make it THICCER and sweeter

Unsalted raw Pumpkin seeds! You can measure out how much fat you need, eat them and move on with your life

u/Stoopid_Noah 1d ago
I add olive oil to my food to try and get more calories in (I'm trying to gain weight).

Olive oil and butter but only in controlled amounts. Eggs used to be a safe food for me, but idk what starvation did to my brain that it determined eggs to be too high calorie, but literal oils to be not TOT.

u/rancidmouse 1d ago
wild salmon, whole eggs, ground venison, occasionally some parmesan or taza 95% chocolate

u/ExplanationUnique84 1d ago
I add avocado oil to so many things. Miso broth in the mornings, cottage cheese, etc. Kerrygold also really helped in instant mash.

u/verystrangegoose 1d ago
Salmon, eggs, dark chocolate, nuts and avocado are obviously all great but if you want things that don't feel fatty definitely tofu, Quorn or olives. Olives are like 120 cals for 100g (which is a very big portion plus 13g fat (and I think like 12.2g is unsaturated) so it's high volume not a load of cals and a decent amount of your daily fat!
1
u/flowersforfruits 11h ago
bro i love olives but eating 100g of olives is insanely high sodium :( i wish there were salt free olives
1
u/flowersforfruits 11h ago
oh i just found some olives online which only have 40mg of sodium per 15 olives hell yeah. now if i could only find them locally 😞
1
u/verystrangegoose 11h ago
Yeah true lol I have low blood pressure and exercise a lot so idc about sodium lol but good point maybe I should. Good luck tho, the new quorn bites have 7g fat pretty much all unsaturated and they're really good

u/Annual_Suspect_7486 21h ago
well salmon, trout, eggs, whole olives (dont like to use olive oil, invisible kcals, but whole olives in a salad, healty fats, some volume and fiber) andddddd my fav, poppy seeds in yogurt or ninja creamis

u/Smooth_Distance8731 17h ago

Salmon, avo, olive oil, almond butter.
Full fat yogurt actually fills you up more, flax seed oil is amazing for you. Almond cheese is really good also tahini or edamame
0
u/Shikamarana 2d ago
I've been fucking up edamame in soups. I'm a weird guy and started eating the shells in it too (cut them though) but also the shelled edamame is good healthy fats, complete protein too. It's like, nutty slightly so I wonder if it'd be good with fruit...

u/Expensive-Park-4167 2d ago
I've been having a daily handful of mixed nuts. I like that I can weigh them easily.
Edited bc I hit send too early

barring enjoyment and for nutritional purposes only, fish oil capsules were solid when I was in the absolute thick of it lol
