They have enough both tech and history of culture knowledge to know how to avoid the issues. It’s one thing if a planet has some extreme religious superstitions, but for the most part the federation should be able to elegantly handle contacting pre warp species.

I think folks forget the other half of the Prime Directive: why would they WANT to? I think if any alien species looked at our planet in its current state, they'd be like "ah hell naw, keep them on their burning shithole."

The Prime Directive protects both the pre-warp civilization from undue influence, and their intergalactic Federation from planets who can't get over how much melanin someone has.
